I think the Wii will be the runaway winner this week, I also see it blowing expectations out of the water. With all the Black Friday hype, and retailers knowing that the best way to get people into their stores was advertising Wii's, then I fully expect that som of them held back shipments to pad their inventory specifically for this day. Not to mention the Buy 2 get 1 free sale at TRU.
I see a boot in PS2 sales but not as much as some people predict, I still think the wise consumer is going to go with the 360 when making a decsion based on lack of Wii availability. (1 its cheaper, 2 its got more casual games, 3 children want Halo 3)
MS will get a boost but, since they are still in stock most places, I expect half of the Wii Numbers

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=6526941 Click on find a store and type in your Zip Code, if you are located in the US that is. |
I'm guessing you've never worked at a Wal-Mart before.

I would assume that Sony still has a massive stock pile of systems, but of course this does show that there were not Wii like sales
Wii: 350k
360: 250k
PS3: 200k
| Sqrl said: NA only? Well if we apply a doubling of last week we get this: Wii - 505k 360 - 310k PS3 - 175k But looking at past trends here is my guess: Wii - 300k 360 - 180k PS3 - 110k And by trends I mean that last year the DS, PS2, and 360 all had relatively minor bumps week over week. |
The doubling takes the cake, I was definitely off by a fair clip. But at least I was correct that I had undercut the final numbers, I just didn't think it would be by that much =P

Final sales
wii-480k(sold out)
X360-255k(less of a boost than you expected)
PS3-175k(98% increase in sales, but not enough to attract too much)

| FishyJoe said: What about the DS? It's going to blow away everything with new bundles and healthy supply. I'll say 750k worldwide for the DS. |
LOL, my number was way too low! In this case I don't mind being wrong!
| shams said: NA only: Wii - 350k PS3 - 120k 360 - 220k
Worldwide: Wii - 550k PS3 - 250k 360 - 300k |
Meh, way too low for the US - over conservative on all platforms :P
DS will break 1m this week (wow! - still 4 weeks from Xmas!!), Wii will be approx > PS3 + 360
Looks like the 360 didn't take enough of a lead in the US again - worldwide looks like another stalemate, maybe with the 360 winning by 10k (or losing by 10k).
(360 doing 5k in Japan... PS3 doing... 40k? 50k? 60k?)
