Forums - Sony - PS3 Supply Will Continue to Be Tight in the Next Few Months

I've heard that they'll have supply constraints until they sell more than the 360.

If that were the case, they'd have stopped having supply constraints months ago.

why do sony like to put themselves in shitty situations? self spanking fetish at it's best!

Eh.

Either there is serious Manufacturing problem here, or Sony is just using the low supply card to drive up demand.

It doesn't matter either way, because Sony is failing to capitalize on their momentum from the $300 slim. They have got to get their shit together soon.

Hmm.. I am wondering if they have moved to 40nm manufacturing process with RSX and that is the problem for low supply (TSMC have had huge problems with manufacturing 40nm chips for Nvidia and Ati). Just a guess.

Damn Sony. Get your game up! They need to do something about this or else they will trail behind the 360 for the whole summer.

Sony is loosing to much on the 120 gig model, they want people to buy the 250gig at 399$ that's why they produce less 120 gig models

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Supply constraint worked for the Wii for 2 years straight. I don't see why it wouldn't work elsewhere.

the stock is tight tactic is working well with PS3 methinks.

I don't think it's working well at all. They're losing hundreds of thousands of sales in the long run and they can't count on people camping out stores like Nintendo can. There were basically no systems available for the launch of FF XIII or God of War III. Personally, I think Sony's just screwing themselves right now.

The 250 GB is $349.

Also I doubt there losing much or any on the 120 GB. The only place they'd be losing money is in America, the rest of the world I think there making money on each console by now, there priced higher then America. I'm sure there making a lot of money on software right now so that should off set the loss in America.

Anybody who needs a PS3 needs to come to Georgia. There's a ton of PS3's, PSP's, Wii's, and 360's in every electronics store/Wal-Mart that I've gone to.

Well every target in Atlanta is out of stock, and all but one in Augusta (limited availability).  Best Buy doesn't seem to be allowing store pickup for PS3's (also sold out online), and Walmart doesn't have anything but bundles online.  So I can't check those.
