Mario Party 9 was confirmed? Or are people just assuming?

Nah, not confirmed - but does it make any difference?

There has been a new Mario Party console title out *every* year - like clockwork - since the first one launched.

And considering how well MP8 has been selling (given that its not one of the better MP titles) - I think MP9 is a shoe-in, and should be one of the biggest sellers next year. Hudson finally have a FULL year to work on it, now that the first Wii version is done. 

Maybe they might announce RE5 as a port for the Wii (I don't know) but it would be crazy to move a game from the 360 and PS3 that would very likely have at least 4-5 million in WW sales.

RE4 only did 3 million between the PS2 and GC, and just hit a million on the Wii. What makes you think the next part will suddenly sell a whole lot better? I have a feeling this part isn't going to do much better due to the lower install bases of the HD consoles, huge development time, and the people who made the last parting leaving the company. At least a port to the Wii is definitely happening, and it might end up as their primary platform if sales of the little white box stay strong enough.

Why is it that I most vehemently defend the games I think are going to suck? This isn't making any sense. >_<

I think the game will appeal to those that bought Gears of War and if that game sold over 3 million copies on just the 360 then I think it's likely RE4 will have at least that (likely more since the 360's installed base will be over double what it was when Gears of War came out).  That and it's pretty much a guaranteed million seller on the PS3 as well.

Gears is a 100% pure shooter with a 5 second attention span and, from what I hear, excellent multiplayer. RE5, like RE4, is a hybrid between the traditional Resident Evil formula and shooters, with no multiplayer and much less action. Shooters with multiplayer is the genre that sells best on the 360, and I don't think Resident Evil will do as insanely well as you predict.

The best parallel I can think of is Bioshock, as both are relatively shooty games with puzzles and shallow RPG elements. Sales might be a bit better, since the install base will be way higher, it'll be the first RE on an Xbox, and there probably won't be a game as huge as Halo 3 releasing right after it. Certainly a million seller, but 3 million is just pure fantasy.

I also wouldn't call anything except GT5, MGS4 and FF13 a guaranteed million seller on the PS3, after virtually all guaranteed million sellers this year sold only 500k or so.
