Forums - Sony - Why are ps3 exclusives sellig so badly compared to xbox360?

GT prologue is over 4 million from the developers website,
Gears and MGS4 both sold 5 million within 3 month of each other so those games are very close ( Each from there respective finacial reports)

So after Halo 3, and gears 1, its basically a wash in for exclusives and how well they sell.

There's only a handful of 360 exclusives outshining PS3's, while the rest are fairly the same. I wouldn't go as far as saying "selling so badly" though.

Some PS3s are just used as Blu-ray players.

So? Some 360s are just used as doorstops. You'll have to do better than that, Kantor.

I use my 360 for many things. I tried using the PS3 as a doorstop and it let Squilliam into the room.

Reported for trolling. Everyone knows it only does everything, including anti-rape doorstops.

The PS3's first loyalty is to Yana, and Yana will do anything for Squilliam because they make up 25% of the humans living in New Zealand.

not that I'm endorsing this, but someone needs to make a thread titled

"why are x360 exclusives selling so badly compared to Wii?"

I mean, Microsoft won the generation by getting to 10m first in the US. They even announced it. (heck, they still have it on their own website - http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2008/may08/05-14360First10PR.mspx ) Their exclusives should have easily sold more if they won.

As for the real answer, it is diversification. If you moved those 4m extra sales from Japan to the US you'd probably see all the shooters rise in sales by a bit, while other games popular in Japan would fall in sales (like Minna no Golf).

that and you might have people buy more than 4 games per system (Japan is where ps3 attach rate is the lowest and US is where it is highest.)

Looking at the top sellers from ps3 and comparing it with xbox 360 it is clear that ps3 exclusives DO NOT sell that well (compared to xbox exclusives) Here are a few examples:

Uncharted-3.10                                                                                       Gears of war- 6.04mil

Uncharted2-3.13                                                                                     Gears of war 2- 5.66 mil

Killzone2- 2.25                                                                                         Halo 3- 10.93 mil

Resistance-3.68

Resistance 2- 1.85

Halo 3 sold more than Killzone 2, Resistance and Resistance2 put together!!! Why is this?

The question should be : Why are PS3 exclusive not selling as well as 360'S halo or Gears?

Now, if you put Gears in there, you have to put MGS4 which is on its way to 5 million plus.

The only PS3 first party game that really sells a lot is GT and it's not out yet, but notice how PS3 exclusives are getting better and bigger, that's what I care about.

That.

Halo and Gears is really the only two things that sell pretty amazingly on the 360. Halo was the flagship game since the original xbox thus garnered a big fanbase so when halo 3 came around on a new system, which its huge marketing, sound pretty well. And since Gears was the first good game for the 360 everyone bought it because there was crap games all around.

last time i checked xbox 360 was only what two years old when halo 3 came out and it sold 3 million first week so whats your excuse now and 360 only had what 12 million consoles sold

Hey now, Dead Rising and Oblivion don't agree!

To be fair Oblivion sold pretty well. But dead rising sold on 'par' if not below the standard ps3 exclusive. Also how much would have oblivion on ps3 sold if released the same time?
