Forums - Gaming - Crysis 2 Better be Game of the Year Material or Else...

I'm excited about Crysis 2 and can't wait to play it on my PS3 and all but honestly, if I start hearing more arrogant and 'dissing other games' comments from Crytek and especially Richard Morgan, I'm gonna be really disappointed.

"Crysis 2 Will hit the Graphics Ceiling for the PS3"

"Best Looking Game or at least Top 3 on Both Consoles"

"Halo Story is Bullshit and has no emotional characters."

"Killzone 2 story Bullshit"

And so on.

Man Crytek better hope Crysis 2 has a frickin good story cos if it's Crysis 1 story quality, then I'm gonna hate Richard Morgan. And how about Crytek first release some PS3 and X360 gameplay so that we can believe them when they say Crysis 2 will be the best looking game on consoles. Give us the prove and then we'll believe. Until then Crytek is gonna look arrogant.

Most of those statements are out of context :/.

May the adjustments be with you

I feel a disturbance in the sales

@ Cross-X

I think they are gonna continue to look arrogant anyhow. It's not possible for them to hit the PS3's technical ceiling at this stage.

But credit where credit is due, they have talented coders amongst their team and their game engine was already far more modern/mature many years ago than most game engines are modern/mature today with regard to multi-threaded design.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

It'll be a short FPS with good graphics. No GOTY for Crysis 2.

This is all ridiculous. The majority of the comments are completely out of context and it's the gaming media and their lame attempts at journalism that make Crytek seem arrogant more than anything.

See Devs can be talented but I don't like it when they're arrogant and diss competition. Hence why I hate Turn 10.

how do you know ?

Time to Work !

Well considering they said Uncharted 2 is the only game they like story wise, but even still Crysis 2 tops it, then I suspect on storyline and graphics the game should be GOTY quality

Required man years, even with a big team of talented coders it will take a lot of time to design an optimal Blu-Ray streaming game engine and it will take even more time to hand optimise for eight 3.2 Ghz processors. This while it's not even all in their own hands, part of future progress lies with operating system optimisations (hence Sony).

I think you should read the full interviews with the quotes in context. They're completely taken out of context by the media that have sensationalised everything Crytek and Richard Morgan have said. It's quite sad really.
