So, Uncharted 2 (according to Capt. Morgan) is the perfect example of story telling in one of the worst mediums for story telling. That's like winning a gold medal at the special Olympics.

you haven't played that many games did you?

And the relevance to what you've bolded is?

"Worst medium for story telling" is going too extreme about it.

This guy who was in the team whom developed Crysis 1 wasn't even successful, so why bother?

                                       That's Gordon Freeman in "Real-Life"

Hmm. . . interesting. As much as I love Uncharted and Uncharted 2, I don't really see much of a difference between those two stories and Halo 3 except for location. Hell, at least it makes sense that a supersoldier with a force shield and super-fancy body armor can get shot 100 times and survive, as opposed to a rather lanky guy in a t-shirt.

He may be referring to the fact that Uncharted's story takes place in a lot of mini-vignettes that use the ingame engine and aren't full on CG cutscenes like a game like Halo would have. And there is dialogue woven throughout that makes the characters on screen seem more real. I would agree with that, but the story itself. . . just fluff really. I started getting a "Crystal Skulls" feeling at the end of Uncharted 2 to be honest.

Perfect example of story telling in games =/= perfect story telling.

Best story delivery mechanism = Books. Ergo perfect story telling in an absolute sense is only possibly via books.

2nd best = live theatre (as long as it's not a musical, IMO)

3rd best = movies / TV (as long as it's not a musical, IMO)

4th best = video games

So, Uncharted 2 (according to Capt. Morgan) is the perfect example of story telling in one of the worst mediums for story telling. That's like winning a gold medal at the special Olympics.

With compliments like that, who needs insults?

Actually, the best form of story delivery is via oral passing.

Its the origin of all story and no matter how good a book it, it will never surpass a superlative narrator doing the same thing.

I hope I don't need to remind you guys

Agreed.

I wouldn't call it the perfect example of storytelling, I would settle for the perfect example...

Yah, it's good, but it's writing isn't quite as good as Uncharted I'd say, and it's narrative flow can be easily broken logically with the redundant side missions - a problem of RPG in general, but there you go.

Uncharted 2 with it's totally linear and controlled narrative unravels perfectly no matter what you the player do, which is an advantage for traditional narrative a linear game will always have.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

You don't need to start any sidequest. You can follow the main plotline without any problems and then you have the linear story but without linear gameplay way to finish the game. What do you want more?
