Forums - Gaming - Disney owns all the leverage to where KH main series go but not spin-offs?

But of course they would. Disney is a huge corporation with easier ability to publish the game and of course market it worldwide. They can do everything economically more efficiently and better than SE. It's only apparent that in the partnership they would get higher leverage haha.

Then whats the point for the main spin off coming to a playstation system? (By main spin off I mean the continuation of the secret trailor in KH2).

If its going to the wii?

i dont think that se relate psp to ps3 or even ds to wii.  a series is a series and thats how they do it and should.

i would prefer it on a system with a normal controller, but i would be more than happy with kh3 soon.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

I don't know why people think that the game can't be multiplatform.

Because its a console seller , and companys are paying $$$ just to have them as exclusives ...

Disney can't leverage that much if S-E refuse to make the game. It's a combination of things.

Disney don't make the game so unless they are the ones fully funding it S-E will have the final say since the one that pays the bill generally has the most leverage.

Disney can easily fully fund the game, they are more capable than SE is.  Disney obviously has most of the leverage here, I don't even know why this is an argument or why this has come up again.  The only way SE has any leverage at all is if there is no other developers that are capable of making the game.  Disney could easily tell Konami, Capcom, Nintendo, they could even ask EA if they really wanted to.

You don't know if that is the case. The other KH games were put on PS2 by default, even a port to gamecube/xbox would probably not have been worth it. Again, Disney has the leverage here, if they want it on all platforms they will get it on all platforms. If SE refuses they can take it to another developer who will make it on all platforms.

soriku i would take what she says like a grain of salt until we can confirm she actually has decent sources

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Nomura loves the ps3, he made kingdom hearts and FF XIII(FF XIII is headed exclusviely on to the ps3) if the ps3 blows up in sales expect KH3 on the ps3.

1. KH isn't on the PS3. 2. Except if she's right (which she always is) there will be no 'ifs' seeing as how she's already said the Wii is the console they chose and it's in development already. Well, not programming and such, but they ARE forming ideas.

Well, for a game like this (huge, epic RPG) another 2-3 years until release (in Japan) and 1.5 years to announce.

Soriku, ask her who pays for the development of the main KH games? Because if it's S-E, then no way are Disney in total control on which platform the games go.

@JH

smart move... I will be back when she replies.

Disney hired SE to make KH.  Disney owns all rights to everything within KH except for the Final Fantasy characters.  They hold the trademarks for Sora, Riku, Kairi, Heartless, any and all original locations, etc.  Basically, Disney can make Kingdom Hearts without Square but Square can't make Kingdom Hearts without Disney.  Disney already has made Kingdom Hearts without Square. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/924747.asp?q=kingdom%20hearts
