in france it's 30€ for high speed internet (30M)+Wifi router, unlimited phone to about 50 countries and Cable (about 40 channels... yes it's more for more channels) + digital recorder.

all that thanks to a company that just kept the price tag and boosted it's services to keep in front of the competition... took the competition 5 years to align on the price... but they haven't allined on the service just yet.

though the only channel we really have to live sports is a paid subscription of 35€/month..... there's always pay per view though.

I don't know, but when you are laid off buying an xbox is the last thing normal people would have in mind.

took him six months to pay off the xbox....wow get a job.I don't care if you lost it go to mcdonalds or something.

I am Kong.

Strong and passionate, I tend to be misunderstood, sometimes even feared. I don't want to fight, I don't want to cause trouble, all I ask is a little love, and a little peace. If I don't get what I want, I get angry, and throw barrels and flaming oil at whatever's stopping me. What Video Game Character Are You?

lol, this is so dumb. I ditched cable a long time ago, but I didn't need a X360 to do it (or even a PC). Also, I'm sure he'll be tempted to buy videogames which will end up costing him the same price as his cable service...

Had he bought a super cheap HTPC he could have replaced even more TV shows rather than having to pay for Netflix which cost him $15/month and XBL for $35/year and not had to pay a dime (other than internet costs).

Not knocking the X360 for being a capable media center (i've never used it, but I've heard it is good) but it isn't exactly fiscally smart if you lost a job as you can go much cheaper. In fact, all he needed was an antenna for $15 if he wanted to watch Law & Order SVU as it's on NBC over the air for free.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I've thought about doing this, but unlike him, I don't think I could do without live sports.

EDIT:  Plus, for some reason, I enjoy commercial breaks.  Not for the commercials, but for the minute or 2 break from the TV to go and do something else for a quick second.

If you press the pause button, you get more than 4 minutes....  Tell microsoft and sony you want live sports... I'm sure they'll think about it.. I could do without that myself...  I honestly dont even watch cable very often, and the news can come from the internet.

You are missing my point about commercial breaks.  I don't like them because they give me a chance to run to the bathroom, I like them because they give me regularly scheduled breaks from watching TV.
