Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else find it weird we're getting Mario Galaxy 2 before...

I'm not sure either. There were at least 3 Mario Parties per console and then only one Wii entry. It sold 7 million and got no sequel. Thing is, one Mario Party could've rightfully eclipsed all the other corny "____ Party" games in sales and brought their saturation to an end much faster. MP9 could've been "the party to end all parties but never came up".

What I found weirder is that we got a sequel to Galaxy 1 before we got a sequel to Twilight Princess.

You're claiming people would look at a hit and go "We can't do better than that. Let's stop"? The opposite would happen. It would have renewed the effort to sell party games.

Or they would've pulled a "We can't compete with Nintendo" type thing and slowed down; the sales of MP9 could (not would) take away from other corny minigames

I have no idea but I could go for a new Mario Party. I'm a bit tired of 8.

They don't really mean that line. The fact that they tried to compete with Nintendo for party games in the first place shows it's just an excuse to avoid making bigger games on the system (games that aren't even genres Nintendo makes, so they wouldn't be competing anyway).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I'm a bit surprised too, I mean Wii is made for this kind of game. I guess after 8 Mario Parties, Nintendo is trying to give the series a rest for awhile. I think they should release one more, with motion plus and online support. But after that, I think it's time to let the series die.

I thought Hudson Soft was a second party of Nintendo?

They're owned by Konami now, actually.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

True, true.

They cannot compete in terms of quality, polish, effort, or marketing. However, they can complain better than Nintendo- they have that on lock. I'm still shocked that the Wii only has maybe 1-3 big 3rd party titles in its entire library.

I really wish Nintendo would release more party games. My one roommate always has her friends over, and they usually want to play the Wii. WarioWare's getting old though. I need something new!

Mario Party 9 or a new Wii specific WarioWare (not DIY Showcase) would be awesome.

I've seen some people suggest that Nintendo considers Mario & Sonic to be the new Mario Party.

Wow... so many posts and not 1 person trolling Mario Party yet. This makes me happy... you all do bring up some pretty good points.

About Mario and Sonic being the new mario party though... does that mean they are going to go to other events? I mean the next olympics isn't for a while yet right?

I would LOVE a new Mario Party, me and my girlfriend have had numerous nights of pure fun with Mario Party 8.

@Kasz216

I haven't had any issues with Mario Party 8 controls, you should give the game a shot, it is really a lot of fun.
