Forums - Sony - My PS3 has forsaken me...........

Someone should make an official thread for "mourning PS3s" rather than having everyone make a new thread every time.

Get one of those small repair companies to fix it for you. They are cheap and they will not format your HD. When my 60GB PS3 dies Im going to get slim. Aprntly repaired consoles dont last long.
How long have you had it for?

were you playing PS2 games? if not I don't know why you kept it all this time. There's a market for those old models and they sell hot. You should get some money for it, even if it's broken, the blu-ray drive (and lens) is valuable, and so it's the board which some people find ways to make it work somehow.

do the thermal paste fix, then sell it, 60GB PS3's sell for plenty of money, but you may still have to contribute a small amount to get a slim PS3:(:(

Same here.  It was bundled with HS, The Darkness, Oblivion and 2nd controller. I recently unscrewed it to get rid of the dust inside but there wasn’t much to my surprise. I could hardly put it back together as there were so many different screws and pieces.

I will keep it for as long as I can coz it matches the shiny black/silver media corner design in my living room. The card reader is also useful as some of my friends are photographers and we watch pics on TV. They didn’t know that a "toy" could do that. Will have change to slim eventually tho.

Fix it, sell it and get slim. (or jump in if you wanna taste the difference (-:)

Hey, that is my birthday too (only a different year), so yay for us.

Sad to hear that your PS3 broke. It always sucks when electronics die as you typically can't fix them yourself.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

*slap*

of course I still play PS2 games...often lol. I have to budget my PS3 game time with all my PS2 games(Persona 3 & 4, The Bouncer, Final Fantasy 10-12, Urban Reign, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Xenosaga 1 and 3, SO3:TTEOT, etc).
