Forums - Sales - Sony Germany: X360 sales 253k, PS3 to be WW leader till christmas

Ah, a Sony Spokesperson trash-talking the 360. How original.

Halo 3. PGR4. Forza Motorsport 2. GTA IV. Guitar Hero II. Fable 2.

Yeah, surely the X360 is doomed. After all, it only has good games (and many of them exclusivel), whereas the PS3 has decent ports of 360 games, a BluRay player and... uhm... a nice price tag that Sony says is not coming down til 2009...

Denial of reality, anybody?

I dont understand, if this is true how can 360 have 3.4 million in "others" according to vgcharts?

I know 360 has, maybe a million sold in UK. If germ is 253k, lets be kind and give 250k for each of the other bigs, spain, france, and italy. Then lets allow, 300k for the rest of Europe..even all these estimates seem kind of high, I would assume Germany is pretty much the 2nd biggest market in Europe.

That puts 360 at 2.3 million in EU. Not as bad as I thought, but a lot lower than Vgcharts. ioi?

I guess "others" might include, hong kong, korea, etc. But Really I wouldn't expect all those together are more than a few tens of thousand.

Oh, I guess Australia is probably good for a couple hundred k. That still leaves 360 "others" at 2.5, though.

Oh no, vgcharts is right there - germany is just not a big market for Microsoft. The 360 sells really bad you can even get a premium System with 2 games and 2 controllers for 329 Euro...

Topic: This funny man also said they sold 1/4 of what the 360 sold in more than one year so they should catch up to them soon... well he maybe took some drugs I don´t know...

Sharky, I myself am wondering the same thing. According to their own numbers 360 sold 0.39 + 1.92 = 2.31 million units in Europe until the end of 2006. So currently being at 3.47 million they must have sold almost 1 million units somewhere else, which seems quite a lot to me personally.

Yes thats one odd thing .I tried to get a response by Ioi but he sticked to the "we have our sources " and everything keeps the same .I think they initially used the Uk x 2.5 to measure the european sales .That works usually ,but not in this case as the UK and continental sales are so different from each other .You are too generous giving Spain 250K even ,it is around half that right now .And Germany data usually includes Swizterland and Austria as german--speaker countries .There are other countries but having 1 million in UK ,120K in Spain ,253 K in German countries ,say 250K in France and another 200K in Italy it arrives to 1.8 million .There are more countries there as Holland ,Belgium ,Portugal ,Greece ,Sweden ,Norway,Denmark  ,but all of those are way smaller .The union of the Benelux (Holland ,Belgium ,Luxembourg ) and Scandinavia (Finland,Denmark ,Sweden ,Norway ) are two middle sized markets and Portugal and Greece are just plain small .I would give Benelux 150K and Scandinavia 125000 ,the others no more than 30-40K consoles each .Total ,around 2.2 million sold .Add to that Australia 250 K consoles sold and you have 2.45 million .Sure you have the south africa market,United Arab Emirates,India   and some others but that cant fill a nearly 1.5 million gap .I think they just dont want to "adjust " the frontpage in big numbers even in front of this evidency because of the possible backlash ....anyone remember Monty ?

after i saw the calculations of sharky and diomedes i also think it can be possible that the x360 sales are too high...

oookay one more time: The 360 doesn´t sell in Germany so you can´t compare it to other countries... we sell the premium system with 2 games and 2 controllers for 329 Euros - other countires dont´do that so it is quite possible the 360 just doesn´t sell in Germany but in France, Austria, Italy etc. it does.

yeah but what Louie says could be true as well. It seems to me that the x360 is performing really poor here in switzerland, and switzerland and germany are more or less the same normally. what do you think, diomedes, how is x360 performing in spain? and could some of the guys from france tell how it's doing there? i think we don't have anybody from italy in the forums, do we?

what i mean is that x360 sold bad in germany and fair in the other european countries, which could explain the vgchartz numbers.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

It doesnt sell in Germany ,it doesnt sell in Spain ,it doesnt sell in Portugal ....I think is more the case of not selling well everywhere outside UK ,as Nintendo of America president pointed out ,that having to do tricks with the numbers to make them fit the cvgcharts frontpage .
