@ kowenicki
Don't make things up please.
I do think there are fewer PS3s on the shelves than 360s globally, but that's not what you stated here. I started the poll to get a better view on the situation elsewhere.

@ Kowenicki:
MikeB is being a lot more constructive then you've ever been here, at the very least.
I don't know where you get that this graph is about how the PS3 is under-tracked.
What I get from it is a comparison about how each systems sold during each quarters since they were first released. And according to the data, the PS3 is slowly but surely outselling the 360.
As usual, you jump on the occasion to show us all how pissed you are that the PS3 is doing better than the 360.

this thread, like the last one a couple of days ago... is about saying "look... the PS3 is undertracked massively on VGC" thats is all it is about and that is why I am all over it.. and I will be all over every thread Mikeb starts in the same vein. |
It is undertracked.
| MikeB said: @ kowenicki My graph is more detailed and focusses on PS3 vs 360. I see nothing wrong with that. |
Not that I don't mind watching people argue over this, but is someone actually going to supply sources here?! I have seen each of the three different requests for this. If we're going academic on this subject, lets see some weblinks.

@Kowenicki: Look closely at the graph. He mentions what his source is... If you look for it, you can find it yourself.

Sadly Microsoft does not provide this data in such a simple and clear manner online. But you can cross reference the data for each quarter from various fiscal reports.
Hardware - - - Q1 - - Q2 - - Q3 - - Q4 - - FY
FY 2006 - - - - (-) - - 1.5 - - 1.7 - 1.8 - - 5.0

FY 2010 - - - - 2.1 - - 5.2 - - (-) - - (-) - - 7.3
Shipped as of end of 2009 38.7 million units.
The issue is quite complicated though, and it bothers both K and MikeB
A. Vgchatz had PS3 doing amazing numbers during the Holidays.
B. Sony reports 33 million sold to retailers.
C. Nintendo report shows a lesser amount of PS3 sold in Others area.
D. Vgchartz adjust PS3 by more than a million which put 3 MILLION PS3 in retails.
E. PS3 fans go crazy.
F. PS3 is in short supply despite having millions out there according to our numbers.
G. There must be something wrong with the way Sony reports these figures then, NPD, Japan and Others numbers don't match up.
One thing is clear, there isn't that many PS3 out there which confuses me a little and question both Sony and Vgchartz, it still remains to be seen if Sony counts all manufacturing PS3 into the sold numbers.

@Kowenicki: Shipped or sold to retailer...
Does it really matter? Even if the consoles have been shipped they could still be on the shelves. The same as if they count "sold to retailers" as being the same "ordered and paid but not yet shipped/built".
You're arguing semantics, and you have the nerve to call him boring? ¬_¬
You're just being an ass there.
Not that it's surprising.
