What I wanted people to get out of the video, could have been done with the sound turned off. The guy is very biased, but so is 90% of the people (one way or the other). Watching the sites load, and how you browse the web was the real reason. Also how the netbook can get slow. Sure, he has a virus protection program on it, but he does because you kind of need one. No one needs one for the iPad.

As for typing, The one I have used is in a case. This lets you lean it upright like a keyboard if you want to type on it. As for the OS and what can be done, we will find out what the new OS will do in just a few days. 4.0 will be unveiled on the 8th.

And for the same reasons some people like Apple products for no reason, I get the feeling you hate them for no reason. In parts of the population, brand loyalty (or hate) seems to creep into peoples ability to make objective opinions.

When you say things like "iPad just blows", you are showing this. There are many reasonable reasons why you have no use for an iPad. That being said, calling it a shitty device has far more to do with emotion, and nothing to do with the collection of metal, glass, plastic, and electronics that make up the iPad.

See the typing thing is not it at all. Either your neck gets raped or your wrists, if you tilt it up your wrists have to tilt up as well. Unless you dopr the money for a keyboard it's absolutely horrendous and it feels like a very poorly planned out feature. But if you get the keyboard dock you lose the whole size argument since you have to carry it around as well.

I hate Apple products because they are overpriced and don't offer anything in return for that price. It's been true of their PCs for a decade now, and now they just expanded their expensive, glorified, piles of shit arsenal with the iPad. Furthermore, to trey to justify their retarded pricing, they try to stifle anyone that tries to do anything even mildly similar, i.e. HTC. Then when they are about to get their asses handed to them, i.e. Sun Microsystems, they shut the fuck up.

Also there are no uses for an iPad to justify anything over $150. I can't edit my code, compile, or run it. I can't write my homeworks with it, I can't honestly do anything on it other than surf the web. Even typing on it, as I mentioned, is very poorly done on the iPad.

As for surfing the web, my android phone is almost as fast, comes with a qwerty keyboard, and is infinitely smaller. Oh yeah, it also makes calls and has a built in beastly camera. It also only set me back $100.

Thanks for proving my point. I am sure no matter what Apple release, you would have hated it.

No actually i proved you to be the Apple fanboy idiot type who will buy anything Steve Jobs shits out. Notice I never mentioned the iPhone or the iPod, that's just your selective reading kicking there, if you were wondering why. . In fact, you have just proven my point. You can't even make a solid case for the iPad, that just makes it even sadder.

So, I have said the Mac books are overpriced and I have said I hope one day Android tablets surpass the iPad, but I am "an idiot type who will buy anything Steve Jobs shits out"?

yea...

Oh, and I have not defended the iPad, because I don't want to get into the same thing that a million other threads are where an Apple hater just argues endlessly. There is no point. Also, because I don't give a shit if you like it or not. Here's an idea. Don't buy one.

I just got back from seeing one in person and I can see a few areas for improvement.

The first issue I have with the ipad is the screen. I was looking at my own reflection for a good amount of time. Outside in the sunlight, it was nearly impossible to see the screen (kindle does a little better outside).

Interesting. I have had no issues using it in the sun. I do agree my eReader is better in the sun. Not sure I would use it in direct sunlight for a log time.

The screen got smudged fairly quick. Even with completly clean hands there was a bit of difficulty keeping the screen print free. You can't just wipe it like a phone because the screen is big.

I don't think any device where you touch the screen with your finger will solve this. If this is a show stopper for you today, it will be in 10 years.

The ipad has no rubber feet. It slid a bit when i was messing around on it.

The one I was using was in a case, so no issues with this.

You'll need a carrying case for it because it's too big to carry in your pocket but it doesn't close on itself like a laptop/netbook making it very confusing to travel about with.

The case the one I was using, made it look like a book. So it's as confusing to carry as a book would be. I know many people who carry a day planer everywhere they go. This would be the same kind of thing.

the RAM could be an issue but it didn't really impede my experience.

The battery life is awesome so i have no problem with that.

The fact that it can only run one application at a time was a bit of a let down. I would like a bit more.

We will see if they fix this in two days. If Apple does not, the jail breaking community will.

The upscaling of old iphone apps was sort of bad, but again that isn't a huge issue. The price for ipad apps being higher does sorta bother me though.

The high price will fade. it's just because it's new. iPhone apps cost a lot when they first came out too. I expect them to come down in price and be the same in a few months. Some might stay a little higher, because some will cost more to make.

And last- the ipad is more for using instead of creating. You can't really expect to do much writing on it like a netbook. It's good if you want to browse/watch vids/tweet/read email/read books/etc.

Depending on what you want to create:

All of these issues could probably be addressed in the ipad2.0

Another thing I would rather create on an iPad then a Netbook... Music.

Edit: SPeaking of which though, the first company to put out a mobile digital notepad that all it does it let you write on it, will become absolutely rich if priced correctly.

That's what I want. Sitting with a pen and writing digital notes for my classes, and I know for a fact that I won't get a tablet before I find one that will let me do that.

Windows Tablet PC's did this 10 years ago (and still today). It didn't make anyone rich. The technology is called Digital Ink. I sat in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and watched Bill Gates unveil it at Comdex in 2000. It never caught on.

Btw, the $360 million in sales Apple did over the weekend I think they were happy with.

You don't seem to realize that they also did a whole lot other stuff which was not needed and cost several hundreds of dollars. You seem to be a very picky reader today.

I do owe where I am today to Digital Ink however. I was working for the military at the time, and I needed to write a program that allowed people to write down what they saw, and they had to do it standing. So, this digital ink thing seemed to be a good idea.

At the time I was a C++ Unix guy. I had to learn Visual Studio (and picked C#) for this project. I liked the development environment so much, that I kept learning it, and today that's all I do.

If not for Digital Ink, I might still be coding in C++. My options for employment would be greatly limited if that were true.
