Well, the PSP is the least successful 7th gen console...

But you are correct... more people have phones than gaming consoles...

hard to measure maybe in software sells but sell alot more than consoles. it's top dog in japan

it is? [top dog]

It has 3 games that sold more than 1 million - all of them monster hunter.

DS has 34.

hardware sale s u know sony doens't make profits  only from software an it keeps at top selling hardware from time to time.

it have tons of 500k more and actually good titles, birth by sleep, crisis core, monster hunter.

DS may have 34 but how many are pokemon?, how many are mini games?

quality VS quantity

Top Dog means best at something, right?

It's not best at hardware, first party software sales, third party software sales, 500k sellers (by tons you mean 6), 100k sellers and everything else you choose.

Quality wise, I believe that most people believe DS is much superior too, but ok, fair enough if you find the PSP the "top dog" in that aspect.

And whose to say Pokemon and mini game collections aren't fun?

Other than Pokemon and Mini game collections, other million sellers for the DS are Scribblenauts, New Super Mario Bros, Nintendogs, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Zelda Spirit Tracks, Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS, Rhythm Heaven (music-based
minigame collection), Kirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby Squeak Squad, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and more. So what if most of those games are rated E for Everyone? That doesn't mean teenagers and adults can't enjoy them. If 10 year-olds play Halo, why can't adults play Pokemon? It doens't matter how old you are; people buy games because they are fun. No one should turn away from a game that could be fun just becuase it looks childish.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Personally, I think the Psp go is the best handheld on the market. It's almost like a Gameboy iPod hybrid. It gives you the best of both worlds.

Help help I've run out of easily refutable facts so here's a shitty opinion does this mean I win the argument?

I'm really curious about the future of the PSP, though.  On 1 side you have Nintendo who does the whole games thing way better and on the other side you have Apple who does everything else way better. The PSP is sort of sitting in the middle and refusing to commit to one side whole heartedly. At this point they either have to outdo Nintendo, outdo Apple, or come up with some kind of brilliant compromise that cannibalizes both sides.  In that respect the Playstation Phone looks really fascinating. It's essentially giving the handheld market back to Nintendo, but it's jumping into a bigger pool with looser rules for success than consoles.

Sony: It only does everything ...in 3rd place.

@Xbbjf9s

i do not think he has missed the point, The very fact that Android handset's and Iphone's #1 used app's from their store's are game's!, the majority of downloads are Game's.

the PSP and DS offer great functionality for game's but Smart phones have taken over the spot of PDA's and it may open it's way to handheld game system's market.

more and more people like the IDEA of only one handheld, yea sure the DS and the PSP are fine product's but as I was pointing out Even Sony is making a Playstation Phone!

Nintendo I doubt will follow suit, but they may not need too but the Iphone and google's own android Handset's are getting game's that may rival even what a dedicated game's devices like the PSP and the DS.

like i said the PDA was taken over by the smartphone, this may have effect on dedicated handheld game machines. like it did to PDA's

Wait, what? Link?

yup, you did not know this?

hell even sony Ericcson has been working on this for quite some time:

back in 2007

...

last month!

Oh, you mean that... Lol, I thought there'd been some surprise announcement of a new PSP Phone like the iPhone or something, haha. I thought it was weird I'd have missed something like that, but I see now.

Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee   3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046

It only sells software.

It meaning iPhone.

Tease.

see this is what gets me i haven't seen a iphone game for more then 10 bucks but the psp games are 30- 40 bucks so if one guy buys one psp game at 40 buck theres more then 4 people buying a 10 game on the iphone

There's two points raised in the OP, and I'm only going to touch upon one

Point 1 - The Iphone receives revenue from non gaming sources. This is true, and must be taken into account when deciding how amazed to be by this news. However, we can't completely say that this is an invalid comparison, because the 360 also gets non gaming revenue from netflix (and so will the Wii and PS3 and Iphone soon)

The second point is "hurr durr Iphone games suck I'm going to ignore games like RE4 and the MGS game and all the other incredible games on the platform because it makes me feel better about myself" And I am not touching that point with a 10 ft pole

Also, a source would be nice
