Is playing video games on a HDTV really needed,I know on the ps3 you do need it for the text, but with a HDTV is there a big difference if you dont have a HDMI cable connected to the HD or is God Of War 3 better looking with a HDMI,Component cables connected to it

Ok I just though a little and the developers made these HD games with HD in mind so I guess you do need a HDTV,but I have a HDTV in the living room and I use the cables the PS3 came with do i need to get the HD ones?

Oh yes you do.
HDMI > DVI > Component > VGA >>>>>>>>>>> Scart

(Don't know exactly where component should be...)

You need HDMI or component to take advantage of HD. There is a big difference between SD and HD so i would reccomend that you play in HD but it wouldn't kill you to play in SD but if you play games online you will be at a disadvatage compared to other players.

Even forking out $30 for the official Nintendo Wii component cables to an HDTV makes a difference.  Playing games on a HDTV with the appropriate cables are not required.  But it's one of those things when giving you the technical numbers mean little to nothing.  You just have to see it to believe it.  Sensory delight.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

HD is an amazing experience. Im no graphics whore, but I remember when we first got our plasma and I booted up Bioshock for the first time, wow!

The cables are cheap and worth it, if you have an HDTV get them

good lord, connect it with the HDMI cable (and go to video settings and set HDMI to automatic)....and open your eyes to a whole new world!

This is an example of my above post.  Do not waste $30 on this crap, but the cheapest ones you can find, they perform the EXACT same.

Ummm... Yes and no.  Component is analog, NOT digital.  Shielding and durability for analog cables to carry a signal is more vital than digital.  Nintendo makes quality 1st party peripherals including their cables.  In MOST cases when it comes to cables carrying an analog signal (such as component), you get what you paid for.

He isn't going to be running the cable the length of a football pitch, he'll need a few feet of cable at best.  Quality doesn't mean dick at that short a distance.

First of all, you don't know what length he needs in regards to the Wii.  Second, you don't know what external "forces" that might interfere with analog signal transfer regardless of length for an analog signal.  Third I was only making the point that if a non-HD system such as a Wii can look better imagine how much better an HD console will look.  Fourthly, stop being so angry just because I make a valid, undisputable point about the Wii, Nintendo's quality 1st party peripherals, and analog signals.  At best, you just misunderstood me to begin with.  Just chill, and stop being so recentful.

hdmi have a better color profile also, and some tv support super black etc
