Forums - Sales - How bad is your country?

I DISAGREE WITH YOU!!!

first off - where do you live in NZ im in Auckland, North Shore

and the DS has been selling like crazy in all the Westfiled Malls and Dicksmiths etc. PSP has been doing shit. (but maybe its just different areas we live in)

Ok the Wii now hasnt done so great (now thats true) the one thing i hate about NZ is how nintendo advertises nothing, zip, zilch on TV yet Mircosoft and Sony bash TV3 and TV2 and C4, Juice with adverts

New Plymouth. The game store I was talking about in particular is Harvey Norman (Okay, a furniture/electronics/gamestore still quite a major player in the gaming industry here) from memory Noel Lemmings don't sell the DS either, the only general electronic store that does sell it is Dickhead Smiths, the one thing I respect that place for.

Anyway Auckland is pretty different to the rest of New Zealand to be honest, probably have different tastes as well.

I respect that place for calling themselves "Dickhead", if nothing else.

Umm, Canada - .... Oh, gaming wise? Don't really care. People will play what they play. If an Atari 2600 craze swept the Nation, it would be interesting.

See Ya George.

"He did not die - He passed Away"

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

I live in the US and Online Multiplayer First Person Shooters are GOD. Yeah, it's Halo, Halo, Halo, Halo, Halo, more Halo, and some Gears of War here.

Last generation, even though the PS2 sold more, it always seemed like the Original Xbox was the most popular console here. It was just so American and it had Halo. The Gamecube was definitely the "uncool console."

This generation, Wii owners and Xbox 360 owners are more confident about talking about the console they own than PS3 owners. Yeah, PS3 is definitely the most hated in The Land of the Free. That's probably one reason I got one.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Yea i agree that Auckland is different, its more ummmm i dont know more western/american in how we buy consumer goods. (cant explain it well). i guess its cause were basically the international gateway into NZ.

But the DS has been doing great up here the PSP had a fantastic start but is now slowly dieing. One thing i get frustrated with is the lack of advertising from nintendo australia in New Zealand. When was the last time you saw a Wii or Wii sports ad on TV?????

feel free to add me whenever (just PM me to let me know)

U.S. here, I blame us for the popularity of the most generic genre out there, the FPS. Also for the millions of similar RTS games on PC, arcades that are nonexistent or suck, and most of all the popularity of EA Sports games like Madden which are the biggest ripoff in the industry ($60 for a roster change and minor updates! Woo!).

In Canada, Nintendo rules. The DS and Wii have been on top all year. Phantom Hourglass even outsold Halo 3 last month.

I have to echo the sentiment about the USA obsession with FPS. Particularly WWII ones. I mean how many times do we need to virtually kill the germans?

I'd say about 3 more times.  What I don't like about the US gaming market is that they don't get all the awesome SRPGs japan does.  I'd learn japanese... but if I couldn't learn Spanish or Latin...  I don't see it happening.

That takes me back....I'm still humming it

In the UK every console & Handheld is well known....apart from the poor Gizmondo.

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

Australia and the wii and ds rulz. 360 popular but ps3 and psp are laughed at.

shrimpy_boy 11: in australia nintendo advertises heaps but you dont see ms or sony ads at all.

still hate how games take forever to get to countries that dont seem to make matter. maybe i should move to the US

I want wii fit and I want it now

I'm in the US, and it bugs the crap out of me, because everywhere I go I see Hal.! It's all Halo Halo Halo! On Mountain Dew bottles, on t-shirts, on cardboard cutouts in stores. Everytime my friends talk about gaming, it's usualy about Halo. Whenever my friends want to get together and play something, it's Halo.

And if it's not Halo, it's CoD4, GeoW, or Source. Out of all those, Source is the only one I play semi-regularly.

I swear I'm the only person in the US that doesn't salivate over shooters.  Also, you can see why the 360 sells so well here. ^^
