We can all acknowledge that the Imagine series by Ubisoft is pretty much garbage, but since it is definitely targeted at kids, should we get kids to review the game since they are about the only ones with "the capacity to enjoy the game"?

Core gamers are reviewing core games!

Also, how terrible would it be for someone who knows a genre to review the game. What has become standard would be known. Mechanics that have shown to faill over and over again would be called out. Subtle new twists on gameplay could be explained. Direct comparisons to similar games could be made. Yeah, that would ruin the review system. Who wants a well informed, and relevant review?

I just got done with Fragile dreams and I thought it was a fantastic game.

I CANNOT WAIT to start playing the badly reviewed game Fragile Dreams!!!
Seriously, I think we should all play the games that "call" us one way or another. I have finished Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings and I wanted to play it because they were some of my favourite movies when I was young. So, the game was already a winner in my book. And guess what, it was. I could forgive its flaws because I was in a mindset to forgive almost anything. Sure, you cannot skip the cutscenes, who cares? I was Indiana Jones...

As far as Fragile Dreams, I am so into games that go slowly and don't rush you, just letting you explore, that I can forgive the average combat system. Why should I care? I didn't buy this game for the combat!!!

Same thing for Crystal Bearer. I have decided to restart the game to get all the medals and take my time to explore everything. I have discovered tons of stuff on my second playthrough and it as fun as the first time, even if I know what's coming. But that is just the kind of game that I enjoy.

So, let all have some fun with our games.

Very good reply, honestly everyone's opinion has value, if its a kids game it might be best for you to let your son give you a second opinion before you rip the next spongebob a new one, you can write how much value it had for you as the parent since parents will be reading the reviews as well, like this game kept billy occupied and he kept coming back to it even after it was beaten, you could probably spare more than bargain bin prices on this game since its something your kids would really enjoy.  See a plausible situation and a very informative view for those that need the information.

So basically what you're saying is....a game can be shitty, however, it should be reviewed by people who "understand" the game. Meaning, shitty games can get marked up because the reviewer likes those types of games?

I'm sorry, but if your trying to make a talking point just so bad games can get put in a better light, I think it's rubbish. Like I said, if game reviews were divided by which reviewer is "informed" about said game...well then Imagine Babiez would get a 9/10. Cause all the reviewer would have to say is "this is definitely a child's game, where they learn how to raise kids so they can be a nanny. If that's what you want to do, then this is the game for you. 9.0/10"....come on now. Is that what you want out of the current review system? Shovelware being put on the same stage as this generation's best gems, simply because those games aren't "core"?

I think the VGChartz reviews tend to be very good on average and highly recommend them to anyone. Please read the words, not just the numbers.

Yes, lets all ignore the point being made and make some really outlandish comment, about how the point being made isn't that reviews should be able to review for the games audience (which is why they even have a job), but you're saying lets replace that with my idea that you're trying to say lets get a really crappy reviewer that has low standards of judgement, but really all I'm trying to do is make gnizmo look foolish using logical fallacies that anyone could cut through with a butter knife.

Yes you've done a great job of proving your point here man, cause what I got from it is you just don't care about journalistic integrity unless it pertains to games only you like, which is a rather selfish view, especially since reviewers aren't supposed to be reviewing for a certain section and that section is the only one represented when someone has to review Wii Sports Resort, despite a mass of people who love it and enjoy it and for many of them it's one of their top games of the gen.

No matter what crazy example you try to pull out of your ass, imagine party babiez which is rubbish, sold only 260k, would be rated as rubbish, while on the other hand Wii Sports Resort, selling over 14 million copies, would be rated fairly compared to the other games on the system and across genres and platforms.  The VGC review was really good in this aspect which was an 8.8 and thats a very good/fair score.

Man! I keep playing Crystal Bearers and discovering new places, monsters, treasures and games. The scenery is beautiful. I enjoy the combat very much, but I wish the Maelstrom would stay open longer. In a few areas, I don't always have the time to destroy all of the enemies. And, THAT IS MY ONLY COMPLAINT. You read correctly, My only complaint. I really don't want this game to end.

So far, this is the worst rated game I have played that I have enjoyed as much. Thank you Square Enix for making it. I, for one, am greatly enjoying it.

I applaud this thread.

I thought Crystal Bearers was a decent game. But i'm not going to lie. The combat just sucked.
