uhh both
Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^
Gameplay.
If you say that Graphics do not matter at all, go play a MUD.
How it plays, no questions asked. How it plays is ALL that matters.

What a dumb poll.
But coincidentally enough, great games tend to have great graphics.

I'm unsure how to answer this, honestly.
I rarely buy a game based solely on gameplay as I seldom play it before I make the purchase. Nor have I ever bought a game solely based on its graphical prowess.
I suppose the biggest factor in me buying a game would be familiarity, be it either with genre, series or developer.
As for a new IP, from a new developer (to me)... hmmm. I suppose, as ridiculous as it may sound to some, simply which one piques my interest most. I realize that's rather vague, but I can hardly think of any case where I'd say any particular aspect of a game trumps any other aspect.
However, given the two choices, more often than not - gameplay.

That is hilarious, because the machine I play on has graphics that makes the graphics of the machines you play on look like a Wii, literally. System Shock 2 was an absolutely better game than BioShock as well. Even with its few polygons and everything esle, it was just a much better game. |
Really? I play lots of games on PC and on consoles and the graphical diffrence is not half as big as it is on PS360 and on Wii. I dont know why are you trying to make consoles graphics look like shit compared to PC all the time. The only game that seperates PC from consoles is Crysis. Uncharted 2 IMO, looks better than 90% of PC games

Because these are games and not movies. You play games, you watch movies. Anyone who rates graphics over gameplay is a poor excuse for a gamer. In fact, I'm embarassed they even associate themsevles with the same group as I do. I think there should be a new classification called "watchers" and not "gamers" to make such a big distinction. |
good animation and graphics make overall experience much better. I enjoyed Super Mario World on SNES much more than i did SMB 3 on NES
| Seece said: I find those guys saying (more or less) graphics mean nothing hilarious ... mainly because they're all fans of a certain console that doesn't posess great graphical power. Graphics matter a lot to some people, a beautiful game can enhance your experience tenfold, bioshock wouldn't be nearly as good as it was without it's amazing graphics to create that amazing atmosphere. People that shrug off graphics as if it's fact they add nothing need to just get off their high horse. |
Keep telling yourself that.
I would rather play the original Super Mario Bros., or even The Legend of Zelda on the NES then half the HD graphics crap that is out there. Or even half the Wii games that are out there.
Graphics mean very very little. If the graphics suck, the game will be hard on the eyes and detract from the game. If the graphics are completely awesome and the best we've ever seen, they are minor eyecandy, but they won't convince anyone to play a game in a genre they don't like.

How it plays... which should be obvious to anyone that looks at my sig.
