Are you all basing this on the belief that difficult and complex=not for casual gamers? Trust me, those aren't deterrents.

I don't think 'casual' gamers mind if a game is hard, but the difficulty should ramp up AFTER they already have a good hold of things. If the 'price of entry' is too steep, they won't bother going in.

The thing is that while actually figuring out how to beat a monster takes a learning curve, just running around with the weapon is relatively easy. Many so-called casual gamers never even get far in games, but still have fun with them.

Hmm...this is true. But if they want casuals to continue buying the series in the future then I think there has to be a way they could get casuals to continue playing.

If they still have fun without beating the game, than not being the game is not going to stop them from buying the sequel.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Trust me, there's plenty of games out there that has been deemed 'casual friendly' which have a steep learning curve.  Heck, one of the best selling games of this generation (and of all time) also has one of the most harsh learning curves out there.  As well as being one of the most frustrating titles on the Wii.

Of course, I'm talking about Mario Kart Wii.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Monster Hunter is a game anybody can play if you have the time to learn the controls. Unless by casuals you mean people who only play for about 10 to 30 minutes a day. Than no it proberly won't sell o them. Though if they invest the time. I think it can be a great sucess.

(killeryoshis note - Who put that there ?)
Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

Also, some people are fans of genres, so those who like puzzle games wouldn't go for this. This is closer to the Gears of War/Halo type of casual gamer, just more hacking and slashing than shooting.

The game's real hope is to find appeal as a "console WoW." Different obviously in that it's neither a proper MMO or a proper RPG, but it has a similar appeal on cooperation, but more in a console sense of working with real friends.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Monster Hunter relies most on patience and will, rather than skill. That's not one of the casual player's traits. I'm not calling anyone a retard here, neither saying that there's no way casuals can get into MH (Japan has proven that they actually can)

It's just that the series's greatest pro by far is the sense of achievement after slaying a hard beast and using its parts to get stronger. Neither are provided by the demo you all got to play. If you think the Jaggi and the Quropeco are the worst things this game has to throw at you, you are in for a series of nasty surprises.

Hey routsounmanman, off topic but congrats on the Demon's Souls plat. I can only imagine how satisfying it must have felt.

Proudest Platinums:
