This country is beyond a joke.

No, it isn't. Would you rather live in the Democratic Republic of Congo? Do you realise how lucky you are to be a UK citizen? I don't think you do.

I'm sure the Democratic Republic of Congo wouldn't allow a rapist to walk the streets after a shitty punishment.

okay then, put your money where your mouth is;

if you really think that makes it a better country, please, move there.

Where did i say it makes it a better country? Stop trying to put words in my mouth.

I'm sure the Democratic Republic of Congo wouldn't allow a foreign rapist to walk the streets after a shitty punishment.

I doubt they would have caught him in the first place.

I honestly wish they did find him.

@ tombi123 - I still think that seems way too short for rape, but I understand your points.

It is a difficult one. The fact is, we don't know the full facts of his rape charge and the daily mail is hardly a reliable source.

you replied to his post in which he aksed "would you rather live in the democratic republic of congo?"

by saying "im sure the democratic republic of congo wouldnt allow a rapist to walk the streets after a shitty punishment"

to me, that says you think that at the very least think they have a better justice system, otherwise, why make such a post?

I think they have a FAR better justice system regarding rape/rapists.

Does that mean i want to live there, instead of here? No.

Because i would rather have rapists stopped for good... Than give them a slap on the wrists and be let back on the streets in a matter of years?

whilst I find it hard to understand why sentences are so short, id hardly call time in prison a "slap on the wrist"

another point that ill make; no justice system is perfect, would you rather wrongfully imprison somoene or wronfully kill them?

edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_the_Democratic_Republic_of_the_Congo - this is the nation who you say deal with this "FAR better"?

I know of people who have been in prison for whatever reason... And they had Internet, PS3's, Wii's... It's hardly a hard life is it?

And of course, no justice system is perfect. Far from it. And i would only support capital punishment if the offender was proven by forensics or whatever.

Sure, they don't exactly prove it in Congo... But IMO this country would be a lot better off if we had the death penalty re-introduced for certain criminals.

the death penalty is illegal under UK and EU law

I think it should always be illegal, I dont agree with the idea of killing people unless there are extenuating circumstances. (self defence, war, that kind of thing)

please provide evidence of your claim that "they had internet, PS3's, Wii's"

if so, they shouldnt be getting luxuries like that, I agree, but again, first prove your claim.
