Face the facts Linux support is gone unless you use your ps3 for something other than playing games. Not that it matters much considering anyone with a slim does not have the option and 95% of the other owners don't give a damn

Actually, someone on the EU Playstation blog said that they went to their local small claims court in order to get a full refund for their PS3 this morning; we'll see how that goes. I myself will wait until that 3.21 update actually arrives and then decide what to do. Given that the EU directive I quoted above has been adopted by national law in all EU countries, the small claims court thing might actually work.
BTW; this will make nice proof later on: http://www.playstation.com/ps3-openplatform/index.html
There is more to the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system than you may have assumed. In addition to playing games, watching movies, listening to music, and viewing photos, you can use the PS3™ system to run the Linux operating system.
By installing the Linux operating system, you can use the PS3™ system not only as an entry-level personal computer with hundreds of familiar applications for home and office use, but also as a complete development environment for the Cell Broadband Engine™ (Cell/B.E.).
There are many flavors of Linux available, which are developed, managed, and distributed by the respective companies and development communities.

How about this.

NO ONE CARES! YOU DONT USE IT, I DONT USE IT....STOP
If you have a PS3 and have performed a firmware update, you already agreed that Sony has the right to remove features at any time. The Linux OS is opening the door to piracy in the platform, and it only makes sense that they remove it. All they will have to do in court is prove that the hack is real, and harming therir company. Any judge with half a brain is going to back this, because it is a good economical move. If people are stealing games and movies via the PS3, that hurts companies all across Europe. Remember, its not just Sony that sells software for PS3.

Wow. Some nice replies here. If you don't care, why post here?

Anyway, the first lawsuits for breach of contract are being prepared at this moment; at least one person (in Germany) is currently trying to obtain an injunction against Sony to prevent them from releasing the announced update 3.21. We'll see what happens next.

Total nonsense, you didn't even read the first post. Furthermore, the update will take away Linux from regular users and the hackers won't update. And to apply a hack as soon as one is found, Linux won't be needed at all.
