Forums - Sony - I know why the ending of God of War 2 was so frustratingly awful!

It took me baout three hours in the original to map to my thumb's reflexes where each button is. I still hav about a fifth of a second delay, but that's more than enough time. I practiced against Cyclopes, since they had (I believe) four button sequences to kill them in the first game, totally randomized, and didn't damage you too much if you failed.

I'm actually surprised you managed to beat two games without memorizing where the freaing buttons are. If that's the level to which you learned the game's system, then your death count has to be astronomical - did you get through the combat just wailing on Square, too?

God of War II's ending was frustrating in a lot of ways, but the QTEs weren't one of them, especially in the context of the game where they weren't any harder than just killing a Cyclops.

Killing the Cyclops wasn't hard because they gave you time to react.  I'd miss them every now and then when I wasn't paying attention or just spamming square, but as long as I was paying attention I would get them.

The Zeus and Aries ones though, damn, they just give you no time and it sucks.  I've always just been bad at QTE's but I have gotten to a poitn where I can do them except those ones.  I can usually get X and triangle isn't so bad, just square and O always get me.

The QTE's that got me during the game were always the gorgon's when you reflected their gaze.  You had to be really quick on those ones too and with all the crap happening and being scared a fodder enemy is going to cheap shot you when you're stone just made me not even bother with those.

And damnit, you changed your avatar and it's not even one with a sour look!  I keep getting confused!

The only answer is practice: getting those QTEs is easy if you actually remember where the buttons are and press them quickly. If you get used to the GoW3 system you may actually be able to do decenetly, then: it's one of the better improvements they made, resulting in the whole thingn being much more accessible.

When I see the buttons, I used to tend to associate them with the actions taken by them in normal play - for square I press the light attack button, for O I press the grab button, etc. That was transitional, but it helped me get my footing.

And I changed it because the best RPG of the latter half of the nineties is on the Virtual Console today, haven't you heard?

i bet you kept on trying in vain just so you could come on here and write another diatribe on something ps3 related.

complaining about the QTEs in ANY god of war game is ludicrous.

really, you should put down the controller. for good.

I HATED that QT sequence. Those things rely on the amount of familiarity you have with the PS controller, as I have had a couple of years without using the PS controller it was a bitch trying to get those down. I finished GoW 1 in the collection and I've back-burnered 2 to let my annoyance with the QTE's simmer down a bit. I couldn't even get the damn sex minigame in 2 right due to raging, dammit.

Which RPG is that?  I haven't paid much attention, is that Ogre Battle?

Actually, I kept trying so when I told people I thought Kratos was a lame character they couldn't come back and say lawl u haventz played teh other games

And it would only be in vain if I couldn't do the things you describe.  If you're going to try and insult someone, at least do it right.

Yeah.

More OT: you'll be relieved to know that there is a QTE sequence in the final battle in God of War III, but failing it doesn't mean instant death - just a loss of health and getting pushed back (you'll get it when you see it). Each section of the QTE is clearly telegraphed (and each kind of QTE even has its own dialogue signal so you know what to prepare for), and even if you fail at every third one you can still win out if you have enough health.

lol, if it took you half an hour to do something that should only take 30 seconds; i'd say that would be trying in vain despite your 'success'.

They're not that hard to do, unless your reaction time is real bad.

Well try chaos mode in GOW 3, and then complain

I will have to say, The Zeus QTE's at the end of GoW2 really sucked a lot. I remember getting really frustrated after seeing Zeus kill me for the 30'th time or so simply because I didn't see the QTE's in time, or I missed one, or simply because I didn't start pressing "Circle" repeatedly fast enough. Then even worse, After you do the repeated "Circle" press, there is another quick QTE which fuked me up more times then I can count. The worst part is, if you failed even for just a moment on the QTE, you died and had to go through the giving Zeus the sword cut-scene again. I got so sick of that scene it was ridiculous.

So I feel your pain Twestrem. FYI, in GOW3, There is no instant death QTE's that I can remember.

I missed them on the first time, pretty damn annoying these QTEs in Boss battles.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
