I don't want to post all of this again. Have a look.

I still have my doubts for the western games that sell better on the PS3 right now. One year old games start selling on PS3 but not on 360 is strange. Especially with such a great difference for the userbase. Western games do not sell in Japan at all, so there is a 8 million gap in the west that only shrinks by 20k / week. So it is not like the PS3 gets a huge boost in the west and destroys the 360. That is not the case. Sure it outsells the 360 but not enough to say the difference in SW sales are from new PS3 owners that pick up old games. The Xbox 360 sees just a little less more new owners in the west.

I don't get why Madden starts selling better on PS3 all of a sudden. The game is basically US only and the PS3 gets outsold by the Xbox 360 in NA every week. The same things happen with the preorders. I don't get why madden 11 has a lot of more preorders in the US on PS3.

And there are no other sources than vgc that tell the same story.NPD reported great sales for Xbox 360 titles like Mass Effect 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Bioshock 2. The few EU numbers we get are mainly from UK and it is the same story there. Forza 3 is still top 12 and a lot of Xbox 360 games sold well.

*note* I don't say Heavy Rain, MAG and God of War did not sell great numbers. They sure did, but a lot of smaller or older titles selling better on PS3 now wihtout any reason is odd to me.

It's actually pretty easy to understand why older titles are selling more lately.

1. The PS3 is selling more period, and unlike previous years, with a better price point,  buyers can actually buy more than one game to go along the new console. The Xbox 360 is still cheaper though. So buyers can buy even more games for the 360. Your point?

2. We don't get UK chart only, we get PAL chart and the PS3 dominate the 360 in those charts. None of those markets is half as big as UK. Sure PS3 has some strong markets, but that won't make the difference for games like Madden or Sega Allstars Racing.

3. Pre-orders are just what is, it's not an indication of sales, as Pokemon just showed us.

But it is the same game. Why do PS3 people preorder a game much more than 360 people even though there is a 8 million gap in userbase.

4. There's really one genre the 360 just dominate the PS3, and even that it's only in the US that happens.

Shooters and WRPGs my friend. Check Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fable, Fallout or Oblivion sales.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

3. Pokemon is an exception to the rule, not the rule. Weird stuff happens lots of times with those charts, but it's still fairly accurate.

4. No, two genres. FPS and WRPGs all preform significantly better on X360.

Most wrpg's are on the 360  anyway.

Fallout: ps3, buggy port

Oblivion: late port

Mass Effect: not on the PS3

So, yes two genre.

no, the 360 will be back on top as soon as april perhaps. march was a huge month for ps3.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

I think what he's saying is since the ps3 is now cheaper and more people are buying it.  We'll see more games on the ps3 at a faster rate than before.  Also with how many have picked up the ps3 since september I'm sure pleanty are buying older software at lower prices.

ot  even if you are wrong it will still be really close in the weeks when you are wrong.

Crackdown 2 won't. Most people that bought Crackdown one bought it for the Halo beta, or in the bargain bin. It was a popcorn game, entertained (although quite well) only for a day or two. I expect Crackdown 2s sales to be lower than Crackdown 1s considered it doesn't include a Halo Beta this time.

MS will beat Sony on Halo Reachs release though, up until whenever GT5 is released, and won't see top software sales if GT5 is released before Halo Reach.

Did you even play crackdown or are you just citing some nonsensical anecdotal experience? The first one was superb and definately not a "popcorn" game that only entertained for a day or two.

Sadly I have. You can speedrun the entire story mode in 30minutes... this creates the very definition of a popcorn game. Admitadly with the collectables it was able to entertain me for as I say, 2 days (probably about 12hours), I played it through to standard completion and got 400~ of the 500 collectables, completed most extras. Never got 100% of course, but unless your that type of guy Crackdown 1 will only hold you for at max a week.

http://profile.mygamercard.net/chronojoe if you don't believe I played it. I actually did story mode twice. Once in singleplayer and once in co-op.

Not likely.

If you take out week 1 releases, the PS3 wins in software sales every week since the end of January. If you keep them in the PS3 destroys the 360 when it has a favorable release and barely loses to the 360 when the 360 has a favorable release. I think there is a good chance that the PS3 wins Software sales most weeks form here on out until there is a big shift (i.e. Reach, Natal, etc.)

Specifically you're talking about retail software sales as tracked by Vgchartz. The entire software ecosystem whether you're talking revenue or unit numbers is still giving the Xbox 360 the lead in almost all weeks.

Tease.

Oh was there a site that tracks weekly revenues or "Unit numbers"? Because I was under the impression we were talking about things that could actually be measured for us to discuss.
