Forums - General - History Channel: Ancient Aliens Documentary. Explain this!

So recently I saw a documentary about ancient aliens. They helped us many thousand years ago with their knowledge and yada yada. I was like : Ok this is some speculation, there's another explanation for this....

I'm a believer that such things as Aliens might exist in the universe, but when it comes to "proof" on earth, I'm a skeptical guy, always denying such thing and always seeking for the most natural reasonable explanation.

But I don't know how to explain this 2 things they've shown in that History Channel Documentary.

-----------------------------\\\-------------------------------------\\\-----------------------------------------\\\----------------------------------\\\----------------------------

First:

Antikythera Mechanism

Found in Greece, ~2150 years old, more complex than a Swiss clock from nowadays, can calculate astronomical stuff that only was "discovered" some centuries later:

Artifact:                       Reconstruction:

How come this can be built more than 2000 years ago? There's ridiculously small mechanisms inside this thing that could not be built just by a pair of two hands. MORE COMPLEX than a Swiss clock, for God's sake.

Second:

Puma Punku Ruins

Over 17,000 years old "perhaps oldest city in the world", built with milimetric cuts on a hard Rocks that fit perfectly in each other and could only be cut by Diamonted Tools, over 4000 Km high, no proof of planning for such a big site. "

"Egyptian pyramids are child's play compared to this"

For better viewing, I invite you to see this video: (Sorry for initial mistake, now it is the correct video)

Entire History Channel documentary here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVbflwdQQhg&feature=channel

Don't mind the portuguese subtitles, the video is in english.

I am completely blown off by this.

See the video about puma pumku. Smurt people could not build that 17000 years ago.

I've watched it on TV already.

And don't take the ancients for granted, even thought they didn't have our tools they did have the same mental capabilities. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of the things they made we haven't found because they didn't survive time.

The puma pumku is mind boggling, though.

Man I'd sooner believe that the nature of the world has changed over time and that gods used to walk the earth before I believed, out of hand, that aliens helped us arrange rocks and build a clock.

And that's not the only thing, there's more mind blowing stuff on that documentary, I am just amazed.

And even if ancient people had brain capabilities similar to ours, they didn't have the technology...

Stuff like the antikythera mechanism was built with what? A pair of brass scizors and needles?

Those "gods" would be the aliens sir. I don't believe that in the entire universe we are alone. I'm very skeptical about this stuff too, but too many pieces of the puzzle fit here.

If there's extra terrestrial life, and they're superior to us, I believe that they've been studying us and "helping" in the same way we do by watching wild animals in Africa and building restricted areas to preserve them.

All kinds of knowledge has been lost to poor record keeping, dark ages, warfare, and periodic bouts of anti-intellectualism (heresy and witchcraft!) over the course of history. Lost technologies are more easily explained by poor information management than alien benefactors.

The library of Alexandria is a good example. An institution dedicated to being the grandest collection of knowledge in the ancient world, and there's evidence that it suffered partial or complete destruction of its collection as many as four times over 700 years. Maybe the bluebrints for the Antikythera device were burned when Caesar invaded in 48 BC.

That Puma Punku thing is amazing...

Gonna post now to bookmark the thread, and watch the full thing tomorrow.

@ famous

You can't assume that in the past, like 5000 years ago, people had technologies as advanced as ours.

For antikythera I do believe also, that with some mastery that could be built somehow, but what about those puma punku ruins????

It's the ultimate "proof"
