A bit off topic, but was anyone else really obsessed with the phone feature when they played the first game? I would try to collect the phone number of every type of trainer (even the one karate master you add in the game), and I would always come to fight a friend after they called (even though it was usually their level 23 Raticate against my level 100 Ho-Oh).
