@ WEWdeadeye

he complains about people not listening to HIS arguments and/or not responding to some of them...hmmm

I think I have been the most responsive in this thread, addressing almost any of the comments. What have I missed? If you don't want to derail this thread any further feel free to send me a private message.

Last time I checked, you are the one who COMPLETELY derailed this entire thread with all your mumblings about cell, developers for PS3, and all this other BS you have been posting with 2,3,4 posts in a row. Seriously, me posting one post about how oblivious you are, and then you responding with "would you like to not derail this thread", just proves my point. Can you not see two feet in front of you? This thread is officially a JOKE because of YOU!! The funniest thing is, you are still so clueless, you are probably going to quote me, and then refute my complaints about YOU, using 3-4 posts in a row, each filled with Sony PR, developers quotes, online surveys you find off sites like Wikipedia, and technical analysis of TeH CeLL!!

No 3rd party game has ever used the cell.

Its possible to acheive, but when?

It's happening stepswise because legacy game engines aren't easily broken into parts, audio processing was the first relatively easy step, now with games like Unchated and Ratchted and Clank: TOD devs have moved a great diversity of processes onto the Cell's SPEs.

AC is better on the 360 easily, take a look at comparision videos

I think you are referring to the color scheme, for full color you will have to enable Full Range RGB on the PS3 (only if your TV supports Deep Color though!). On the PC games were and are mostly reviewed and judged on maximum settings (Such as Crysis), this doesn't appear to be the case for the PS3, not that you need to upgrade your PS3 to get maximum results, you need to upgrade your display and audio setup to achieve that.

How many people actually have that. you can easily see the difference in that video, take a look at 1:51 in that video

Wow,  I had no idea that AC on the 360 looked so much better than the PS3 version.  That is a big difference.

@ Lynn

The graphics are basically the same, enabling Full Range RGB should roughly result in the same color scheme (the image will only just look darker while losing colors if your TV doesn't support this, as you loose color data). HDMI 1.3 (digital, losless) is the best connection currently possible for a modern deep color supporting HDTV.

Those still using SDTVs won't notice much of a difference and for them its basically the same game and runs well enough on both platforms or so I've read.

No they are not the same.  Go look at the comparison.  It is not only the color that makes the 360 look so much better than the PS3 version.  No way you can look at that video and not admit that the 360 version is superior.

@ Lynn

Some second opinions:

"Why does everybody who creates these videos set their gamma so ridiculously high for the Ps3? It's ridiculous. Outside of the videos, Ps3 games are never that "washed out""

"I think that there's something wrong with the contrast level on the ps3 version. If you notice... when they zoom in... the textures look better on ps3."
The contrast and brightness were set way too high on the PS3 side. My PS3 setup looks many times better than that tripe.

"It's the same. The gamma output is scewed on the PS3 just as Kirby said. During one of the fight scenes on the PS3 you can tell how vivid it's supposed to look. Really, these will likely look exactly the same if the settings are the same. "

"There's a setting in the PS3 display options menu where you can enable "full-range RGB". For me, that really helped the colors stand out and removes most of that blurry, washed out look its games have. Then just up the contrast level to enable the blacks to be a bit bolder, and problem solved. "

"I really wouldn't call this video a fair comparison, as much as it tries to do so. The game looks a lot less washed out on there for the PS3. Some settings have to be tweaked or something because they really should look identical for the most part.
When you zoom in, the textures look better on the PS3. The colors are just screwed up on the output for who knows what reason."

"Once again the idiots who are doing the comparing jacked the gamma correction way too high for the PS3. They need to spend a little time getting to know the settings of their PS3 and how the whole SUPER WHITE setting on the bs3 works and the RGB FULL RANGE setting.
Freakin idiots......They obviously are in bed with Microsoft."

"Theres no way there using the same TV for those comparisons. The brightness is up too high on the PS3 videos. I have both the PS3 and The Xbox 360 hooked to the same TV with the same kind of hook up and PS3 games are never that bright and washed out. There comparisons are always off one way or the other, games on any of my systems are never that bright and washed out."

I really wonder why there are IMO far more insightful and balanced comments posted at other websites like this in comparison to the comments on VGChartz? (Here it's usually the Wii or XBox 360 are kicking the PS3's butt!? Nothing in depth, and if you try to go in depth people get angry a lot of the time...)

Wow comments from people

for all we know EVERY SINGLE ONE COULD BE FANBOYS. you have NO evidence. Of course they are more insightful, THEY AGREE WITH YOU.

............nothing more to say.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Wow at comments... Wow at him actually taking the time to pull them out to fortify his argument.

The fact is AC has far more severe tearing and slowdown issues on the PS3 than on the 360. Otherwise, the graphics are pretty much the same, minus the PS3 version lacking some shadows and other details on distant buildings.

Ahahaha, DVD limits the size of COD4 making it a 6 hour campaign. Yet Uncharted and HS are both around the same length, despite how the developers are "free of technical limitations" thanks to Blueray.

With the cost of asset creation so much higher this gen, maybe developers are finding that they don't have enough time, money and manpower to make a 20 hour title with all the graphical bells and whistles, fancy surround sound, and online. Er, scratch that online part... UC and HS lack it, yet the DVD limited title has it with plenty of maps...

But hey, don't let common sense get in your way.

MikeB, no one says you have to respond to every single statement anyone ever makes to or about you, but here's one question you need to answer:

Why is CoD4's short campaign evidence of DVD's shortcomings, when some PS3-exclusive games are also very short?

If you cannot answer this then GTFO and stop saying that DVD is, right now, too small for many games.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

Sorry to pick this particular post out - but please lay off MikeB. No personal comments or attacks please - we all know the rules.

He is as entitled to his opinion as everyone else, and if you check the post where he first mentioned the "DVD short campaign" issue - he did mention it with "my opinion..." (or something like that).
