the cat stole my golden fish, that should give u an idea of where i am.

This game is time consuming.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Hey the time was still 5 PM PST right, did it change

I must say i now understand the frustration of having to "make" everything. I'm gearing up for my first capture quest which, if i prove i can do it, i figure i'm at least ready for online play (though how in the hell do i determine my hunter rank if i've just been playing offline, is it based on what level star quests i've finished?), and i experienced the great frustrations of making Tranq bombs and a Pitfall Trap, hunting first for stones and sap plants to make the bomb casings, then buying Tranquilizer, then making the bomb, and then finding Spider Web and Ivy and buying Trap Tools to make a Pitfall Trap

I got so much Iron Ore trying to find stones, though. 21 pieces of Ore that i really don't have plans for...

Also: how many Tranq bombs should i need to do this (capture Great Jaggi) properly? I have 5 so far...

For the Great Jaggi capture, the mission pretty much supplies you with everything (one trap, 3 bombs I think). You probably get extra from the side quests, too.

... I know what you're saying, though.

I am pissed off as all hell, fucking Jaggi. Why do you go to every region except the one i have a trap placed in?

Failed the quest, now i have to work another 45 minutes to put enough supplies back together to try again, because damned if i'm losing more money on this horseshit.

I just completed my Great Jaggi Capture Quest. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be (I owe it mostly to having much better armour and weapons, and the experience of killing a Great Jaggi previously). Much easier than the first Great Jaggi Hunt. I didn't need to make any items, there were sufficient items already provided in the blue box for the quest. I essentially just used a sword and hammered on it for a few minutes, then it limped off; I followed. Ran around a bit, placed one of the EZ shock traps I had, and stood on the other side of it; the Great Jaggi cherged right into it; I threw 2 tranqs at it and the quest was over. It was actually one of the shortest times I spent on a quest overall.

My only tip, make sure you have good armour (I think all of my armour pieces are 10 in defense, or 12) and a good weapon; I have a regular sword which has something like 152 or 168 offense - found it really effective. I think I used two heal rations, and that was it. I hope I helped a little. I immediately went out afterwards and killed a third Great Jaggi for resources - but as I was carving it, the small buggers kept hitting me away and I didn't really get anything =P

@Mr. Khan

Capturing monsters pissed me off too at first, but it's not that hard once you know how to do it.

1. Supplies are given to you in the quest, you don't need to make them.
2. Hit the monster until it limps away to another area, but don't try to place the trap while it's fleeing.
3. Follow the monster into the area it fled to.
4. Set the trap a good distance away from the monster before you run up to it. It takes a while to set the trap, that's why.
5. Get the monster's attention, either through line of sight or with a few hits (it's not going to die that easily). Lure it to the trap.
6. Once the monster is trapped (yellow flashing light), throw two tranquilizers at it. That's it.

Really? Earlier this evening i managed to get it in the trap and hit it with all 8 tranq bombs that you're allowed to carry and it did nothing...

I've figured out all of that, i've just been more cautious than to try and set a trap in the same region that it's in at the same time.

Had a really fantastic day with woopah, his friend (now also mine) and another guy. In three hours we only failed on one quest and eventually completed all two stars quests. Time to improve everyone's hunter rank to play the urgent mission.

I am really liking the game now even if it still has some tough parts. Offline doesn't suck anymore after learning how skills and elements work. Online doesn't suck anymore, because I finally played in a good group of four. Too bad that woopah has to leave for uni soon and might not be able to play online for a while.

And please don't say that Chrizum will be a good backup, we all know the truth.

yeah tonight was frickin fantastic. cant believe how far we've come. We used to be scared of  baroths, now were taking down Rathians and Gobals with ease. sense of achievement was amazing

We just did  Lagiacrus for me, was pretty damm intense but we owned it with only one death (mine). ende dup capturing it to be on the safe side  but i reckon we would have killed it.  3* quests look far to difficult for my equippment so im gunna be helping you guys rank up.

Also, iv'e been thinking how fun tonight was and I reckon what I will do is  buy a USB thingy so i can play wii with a wired connection. I won't be playing every night (they'll be drinking to do :P) but on nights I have in i should be able to join you guys.

Its gunna be amazing

hmmm, I think I might be able to taste the jealously and hate I have for you all. I can barely get the time to play any games :( urg. I'm only partially kidding there. Well I am about the hate part.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

I have a question. Apologies if it's already been asked, but I don't think it has.
Does anyone here have an out-of-market Wii? (ex: a PAL console in NA, or, like me, a NA console in Asia) And if so, also own this game?
How does the online work for you? So far my experiences with online has been extremely frustrating to say the least (disconnecting at least once every five minutes) with pretty much every other Wii title I've tried, and wanted to know if this was different, or if I could choose servers on different continents.
I just got the game yesterday, and don't plan on trying out the online for a little while yet, but I'd like some encouragement that I'm not going to have to wait until I move back to North America to really get into the meat of it, which will be in -eighteen months to never- from now.

*edit: should have proof-read it first.
