Got the tails and the skypiercer. Now i only (potentially) need to knock him over one more time, get one more dose of Elder Dragon Blood, and i will finally have everything i ever wanted out of this game

That's nice to hear. You can also get Elder Dragon Blood from Ceadeus or Jhen Moran. They don't drop it as often as Alatreon, but you don't need a good crew to kill them.

Yesterday I decided to fight in the offline arena again. I want to complete my Ranger Outfit and build the Ranger's Espadrilles. So I fought against Barroth, Barioth and Rathalos again. It was a good fight. I only needed 34 minutes. And I got 3 Barioth Coins. I never got more than one before ...

Today before work I decided to fight in the offline arena against lagiacrus and gobul. I won in under 20 minutes, which means I beat the qualification time. I also got 2 Gobul Coins.

That's actually a good idea. Ceadeus might be easiest of those, given that i can do it on my own time and don't have to wait for others to prepare, though Jhen Mohran is more mechanical

hmm...

According to a guide at gamefaqs the chances for Elder Dragon Blood are:

Ceadeus 5 %

Jhen Mohran 8 %

Alatreon 8 %

If I needed Elder Dragon Blood I would kill Ceadeus. You don't need other people and with high ranked weaponry he should be killed faster than the other two. Elder Dragon Blood is a normal reward item, so the skill good luck or great luck should help. I would probably wear my jaggi mask and some parts of the guild plus armor and use a good thunder or dragon weapon.

Still a long way behind everyone else at this game, but what are examples of good thunder or dragon weapons? And I am correct in thinking Thunder vs Water and Fire vs Ice (and vice versa) work best?

In the absence of evidence to the contrary, always assume you have the upper hand.

Actually more random than that in this game. Some of them make sense, some don't. The main takeaway from this game is Dragon > All (which is kinda like Pokemon, except backwards, in that Dragon attacks pwn most everything). Fire does work best for all three of the monsters that inhabit the ice region, lightning for Rathalos, Rathian, and Deviljho, water for Pecco (which again makes sense with his fire affinity), but then Fire for Ludroth, making no sense at all. Ice tops Diablos and is your better bet against the Elder Dragons, and water against Agnakto

I forget for Lagiacrus, Uragaan, and Jaggi, but that's certainly findable

Thanks for the explanation Mr. Khan!

Well, I am about to take on Ceadeus in the offline game and will probably go with my switch axe, as it is the the weapon I have upgraded the most. The same goes for my Lagiacrus armour. I am just waiting to get my hands on some Dash Extract or is it Pale Extract? Oh well, I will know it when I get it.

Anyone up for some elder dragons this evening? I need some blood, so i needs to knock me over either Jhen or Alatreon (i did Ceadeus, but he's too boring)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Freakin' Elder Dragon Blood. The one singular item in this entire godforsaken game that i care about or require, and i absolutely cannot get it. I'd have to kill Jhen 20 times *and* get lucky, or go back to the Alatreon jungle

Or kill Ceadeus 20 times and die of boredom

Decisions, decisions

On the topic of Ceadeus, I have had one attempt at trying to kill him and I ran out of time. I guess I spent too much time trying to figure out what I need to do to use the "dragonater" weapon and not enough time going postal on Ceadeus. Am I correct in assuming that since I am not a gunner, I will not be able to use the mounted under water guns in the ruins and that my only "ancient" weapon is the dragonater?

No, you just have to accumulate ammo. Ammo can be accumulated in the debris next to the ballista, and the ballista is key to destroying his horn. With the dragonator, just lure him close and nail him

What kind of loser-ass fricking team drops low Jhen Moran to a destroyed ship? What a pleasant way to leave this stupid fucking game behind forever
