Netflix finally ships out Watch Instantly discs for Nintendo's Wii

Wii owners have been waiting for this day to come since early January (or before, arguably), and at long last it looks as if the rental superstar has come through. Customers around the US are receiving email notifications today stating that their Watch Instantly disc (required for Netflix playback on the Wii) has shipped, and it should be waiting in their mailbox before this weekend begins. We'll be interested to see how the streaming service performs on the weakest of the three major consoles, but given that no 1080p content is available, we doubt they'll be any major snags. I stream media to my Wii already. I don't know what it is about people, but technological capability seems to be based on PR bullshit rather than fact. It doesn't take a massive amount of power to stream media.

I was getting ready to ask what the point of this would be. But I guess your response I can see.

My desktop has a decent size screen, but my TV is bigger... and will definitely better when my wife and I want to watch together... I've been waiting for this for over a year...

Funny to see people talking about the possibility that it will have technical problems due to the weaker hardware, even though hardware weaker than the Wii can play video just fine.

Streaming is just network transfer plus video playback... and the network transfer part barely uses any CPU.
