Forums - Gaming - GameStop Sued Over Deceptive Used Game Sales

OH this isn't going to go anywhere because I'm almost positive that anything that comes with things that you only get when purchased new, has something where it states "only available with full retail purchase". And then it'll tell how long the validity of the code or offer lasts.

Meaning either the company or Gamestop already has that covered (especially if it is a Gamestop preorder bonus that comes inside the box). But the dude didn't even bother to read the fine print.

I work for Gamestop, and I know they rip people off or screw them all the time, but this is not one of those cases.

LOL

on the back of my dragon age origins it says:

"A $15 Value"
"One-time use code available with full retail purchase"

so does full retail mean brand new? or does buying used from gamestop mean full retail?

Full-retail purchase is another way of saying "bought at its original price from a retailer".  Meaning essentially the only thing that'll fit that is new.  It's also another way of protecting against "pirates" trying to sue, as that wouldn't have bought it at a retailer for its full price.  But used wouldn't mean that because technically when Gamestop sells used games they are a pawn shop and that's different from a normal retailer.

So yes by putting that on the back, the custmoer is informed that it was a limited offer for early buyers of the game at full price from a retailer.

Hayward is full of ghetto gang bangers and people looking for hand outs. I grew up their and just visited that town just 2 months ago to see what became of my hometown. Its rundown and the elementary school I attended is full of graffiti now.

Sounds like my city.

They should at least cover up the "Free DLC" on the boxart with a price sticker.

The most surprising thing about this is Gamestop only makes about 20% of its revenue from used games. They can definitely survive without whoring used games like they do. But digital downloads is their biggest problem.

Revenue and profit are two entirely different things.

I'd like to see them get sued over the process of selling used/gutted games as new.

It's just that simple.

This is one of the few cases where the person has a point, though I don't know who is to blame. Probably Gamestop and not EA for making the cover.

I don't think he should get all he's asking for, but Gamestop really just should have given him his money back.

Of course there's also the part of me that wants to ask why he waited longer than seven days...

1. This man is stupid moron.
2. Gamestop is shitty
