Still waiting for just the right phone to come out, but I'm definitely not settling for an iPhone. The Android phones are getting where I want them to be!

??? When has Apple ever been short on PC supply? And just because you don't get it, doesn't make the iPhone or iPad shit. I have told this story before, so I will just give the short version. I was looking for a GPS tagging system for my honeymoon. I have a digital SLR camera (the one in my avatar), and I wanted to geotag the photos I took with it. After a few hours online, I had googled and found a product, found some reviews, found a place to buy it ($150), entered all my personal info, and was about to hit "buy" and wait the 4 days for it to ship, when I thought it myself "I wonder if there is something on the phone that can do that?" I picked up the phone, hit the apps button, searched for geotag, found 3 apps, clicked on the one with the most stars, read a few reviews, clicked the "buy" button (for $4), it downloaded, and then I could geotag apps. If the first place I thought to look was my phone, from the time I wanted a capability to the time I had that capability, would have been 3 minutes, not 2 hours + 4 days for delivery. This is the power of the app store, and why it's the most significant thing in the computer industry in years. It's why everyone has an app store today. The phone is just a phone. Dozens of phones out there are better. The app store is the story. It's why the iPad will be a huge success. It's all the same power with a screen that can allow apps to be so much more. And I don't give a shit about Apple. I by products, not companies. When someone makes a better app store, I will buy whatever I need to be a part of that store. This unjustified hatred of an electronics company that has done nothing but provide tools to people who wish to buy them, says a lot more about you, and not much about Apple. |
Maybe you don't remember what happened when Jobs came back, restricted his OSX back to only Apple's PCs, then raise the prices?
The iPhone is shit solely because of Apple making it shit, if it was an open and uncensored device it would be a great smartphone. The iPad however is shit because it has absolutely zero benefits over an iPhone, and even fewer over a netbook, and buying both of those would also be cheaper than downing the money on an iPad.I am sorry, but your app store theory only holds up for phones, beause that's where it works, computers and netbooks have had applicattions, thousands of free ones over on sourceforge, for years. If you somehow think that the apps for an iPad will somehow manage to be better than a standard notebooks/iPhone's applications, then you really don't know much about technology.
I am sorry if I try not to support companies which try to create monopolies on the market, and when they do have a monopoly try everything in their power to fully control their product even after purchase. Remember how Apple is trying to make it seem that the iPhone is a rental not a buy? Remember the whole iBrick problems? Yeah no... that corporation just needs to die off. You hate governments with power, I despisepower hungry businesses.
Mirgo does have a bit of a point.
As a business, Apple has some of the worst, close-minded business tactics of any company out there. Say what you will about Microsoft, but Apple has been far worse. In some ways, its helped (iTunes being so big due to iPod integration), but when their tech maturates....It becomes a major impetus to growth.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

If not for Apple, you would not have Windows. If not for Apple, you would not have Android, Palm OS, Windows 7 Phones. Without Apple, you would not have a Zune.
People talk about how Apple is some Power Hungry company, but if not for them, the industry would not be anywhere near where it is today. You can get huge benefits from companies without ever giving then a dime of your money.
What has the world come to? We have a government taking over the US, and people praising it, and major companies who are doing great seem to be the evil in the world.
I wish I lived with todays civil rights, 100 years ago, because todays mentality about the world, just sucks.
Apple only makes money if they provide people with a product they want. There is not a single industry, where Apple owns a monopoly. Not even close.
Again, you don't like what they sell, don't buy there shit. I wish I could say the same about the $30,000 a year the government takes from me whether I like it or not.
Oh, and to answer the above questions about why they iPad... I plan to get the 3G service. If I got a netbook and 3G, the cost of the delta of the service in just 2 years, pays for the iPad. Also, I have a 30" display on my Windows 7 box. When I tell people this, they don't go off on Dell for making a monitor that's exactly like a 15" monitor and cost 10X as much.
There are things I can do with a 30" 2560x1600 display, that I would never do on a 800x600 display. The iPad vs iPhone is the same.
Now, I am not asking anyone to buy it. In fact if you don't like it, I hope you never step into an Apple store. I am just asking why in the fuck would a world be better where we have less things we can buy? Why is Apple a corporation that just needs to die off, when doing so helps no one, and reduces your choices?
Hey, I'm not saying that Apple shouldn't exist. I'm just saying some of their business practices are bad. That doesn't mean that I have some sort of hatred for them - they do what they do, and they do a good job of it.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
I think there business practices are the best in the business, because they do what they say they do.
Yes they are closed. Yes there products have limitations. But we know what they are. Steve jobs is one of those guys who thinks "If we can't do it extremely well, we are not going to do it", and he does not hide it. Everyone you ever hear complain about Apple, always complains about what they don't do. Almost all of those people also did not pay for the product they are complaining about. Apple happens to blow away all other tech companies in customer satisfaction.
People who complain about Microsoft on the other hand, usually complain about how poor the product does what it's says it will do.
I would much rather complain about what a product doesn't do, then how poor it does what it does do.
wasn't the nexus called the ultimate iPhone killer too?
isn't it amazing how old the iPhone is and these companies just caught up? hopefully the next iPhone creates another big technological gap that needs years to close ^^

You could say that and apply it to almost every company in every market -.-
So what does this have over Sony's X10? Which I am planning to get within the next month
That has the same snapdragon processor, is the main difference the Sense UI, as opposed to the stuff Sony are doing?

Again, that's because its not the phone. In every way the Nexus one is a better phone. It's the app store.
I bring this up, because it does not matter what the hardware is that Apple releases. I am sure it will not outclass this HTC phone. But until Google gets the OS and it's store on part with Apple, the iPhones will continue to outsell the Androids.
Think how well it would have sold if it was not tied to one network (in the US anyway).
