Forums - Sales - Final Fantasy XIII American second week sales

lol. I have to admit, it's refreshing to see a ratio argument used against PS3 for a change. I still don't agree, but change is good...

Edit: Fuck me, I spoke too soon!  That's what I get for reading just the OP and replying, lol!

Lol, hey I give credit where it's due. Just because I'm a fan of Sony and Nintendo, doesn't mean I won't criticize them or praise other competitors (i.e. Microsoft) when they deserve it.

But what part don't you agree about?

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Theres so many emotions at the end of the season. And no one likes to talk about it. but one of them is fear. Fear that you could come this far and it could all end. The dream could die. But me? I like the fear, it means Im close, it means Im ready.

Bring on FFVSXIII

Based on install base FFXIII is doing amazing on PS3 in America over 1% of all American PS3 owners bought FFXIII last week. Putting them around 5% as a whole in the US. Not bad for a game where most of the commercials I have seen have been for 360.

give it a month and it will be gone from teh top ten while NSMBWII stays in the top ten for months to come. FF13 in my opinion will be done within the month. I still think if square wanted really awesome sales for months on end they need to make a different FF series and not use these 3D type engines and go back to the 2D stuff but make it to the point where its a mixture of the two as in graphics but gameplay like back in the day. i mean look at how many people still buy the original 6 games. can you imagine playing a brand new FF in teh style of the old ones? but using particles and shadows and just great looking graphics to tell the stories and such? i mean look at cut scenes which i think would be awesome if they did that. or instead of having such small characters have more detailed bigger characters. i know everyone that is a sony fanboy is drooling over FF13 and versus but cmon stop thinking sony is the greatest in the history of videogames and start thinking how great it would be to have a game appeal to everyone and sell like hot cakes. it is possible.

Says the nintendo fanboy with no FFXIII on his system..

Oh, I disagree with any notion of ratio being significant.  The the end absolute sales are what really matter.

There are 2 reasons why the X360 version would have better legs:

1) More Xbox 360's in America
2) Less saturation among Xbox 360 users

Its not unexpected. The big question is if it beats the PS3 in the longer run.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Yup, well as you saw, I clarified my point of the OP in response to other users.

Think I'm going to add it in my OP.

well if you look at percentages the PS3 version dropped to 26.7% of its first week while the 360 version dropped to 28.7% so the difference is largely meaningless. Could become more meaningful as time goes on though.

Lol, I know, I calculated it before I made this thread, also hence why I said it's insignificant at the moment. But considering how FF is generally associated with the PlayStation brand, I was expecting a smaller drop from the PS3 version than the Xbox 360. But seeing the 360 version ever so slightly ahead in second week drop-offs, I'm rather surprised and impressed at the same time.

The 360 advertising and 9 mill gap really does help. Many of those 360 owners were once PS1/PS2 owners that didn't feel the need to move on to PS3 once they knew FFXIII would be on the 360. Sure, the PS3 is going to ultimately win this saleswise, but that's definitely a bit of a victory for Microsoft.

I am one of those ps1/ps2 owners.

Third week will reveal that. Though I'd have to disagree with the "less saturation" part. The Xbox 360 does have more JRPG's than the PS3. Why else do we keep hearing how the PS3 only owners are supposedly "starving for JRPG games"?
