Sony might the most out of touch company I have ever seen.

Seriously, I don't think they want to sell that much anyway.

the problem with ps3 shortages is people wont wait ages for a ps3 because they can get a 360

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

i guess this proves that all who bought GOW3 already onw PS3

@ioi

In your opinion, is the PS3 supply issue related to the FCC filings seen recently for a PS3 with a different model number? Can it take this long to get them back in stock if they did move to another manufacturer for their motherboards like was rumored?

PSN: GripnRip

Always up to game.

Weird question and proof of my lazyness. Has the PS3 been down in others and Japan? It seems like it has not. (Again, too lazy to check). If it's not significantly down in others and JP that it could be due to a couple things: Sony is undersupplying NA for some reason, or the shortages aren't that bad and demand has dropped. If it is down in others and JP, then it's worldwide supply shortages.

Some heads at Sony do need to roll.

kowenicki, do you think there´s something kinda fishy about these shortages?...it couldn´t have been that hard to supply more systems for one of the biggest games..it´s almost like it´s intentional, but it wouldn´t make sense at the same time...hmmm.

The only reason I can think of is that they want to maximize profits before their fiscal year ends on March 31st. They still sell the console at a loss so selling fewer would actually increase profits in the short term. I don't really think this is the case, but if it is supply should get better as soon as next week.

There is also the new lighter version of the PS3 slim that might be the cause of this, as production has been slower during the transition.

I'm Proud of both Wii & DS, Congrats for toppign the hot 69 Million and DS 128 Million!

Don't understand how you can br proud of a games console? you're way too involved ..

In other words I'm proud of whats happened, after the long years of low sales of each generation, Nitnendo has finally put a stop to that decline.

again, not seeing a reason for you to be "proud", happy? maybe lol even so, Nintendo have had these sales for like 4 years now ......

But in the gamecubes days no one thought they will be back on top but if you love something with a passion then of course you will be proud of them to be doing good again.

Even in the 64 days and gamecube days they still had total domination on the handheld market.  The gameboy and gameboy advanced totaly dominated competition.  It makes the way the DS is destroying the psp kinda tame

can we drop the idea that sony is holding supply back to reduce losses... thats just ludicrous.

But questioning week after week that there is a shortage is not.

@bolded - the only reason they would want to do that is to shore up stock prices, which I don't think are that bad. Otherwise making a small profit doesn't make sense for a division that big due to income tax purposes (provided that pay those in Japan, if not nevermind). Smaller income = smaller income taxes. It would be better to start the fiscal year profitable.

Concerning possible Wii shortages.. I noticed Wii is finally in stock at amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop online. So it looks like the shortages on that front are dealt with, at least for now. A 140k cap for Wii sales in US isn't too bad, especially with no significant releases.

So it sounds like PS3 (and to a lesser extent Wii), is in somewhat limited supply, but is available at certain locations. It's just hard to find them, but not impossible.
