Forums - Nintendo - Hi guys, opinion time. Is Heart Gold or Soul Silver better and why?

I have to pick one up tomorrow when they (finally) release in Australia.

I have been DESPERATE to play it since the English versions first started appearing and I was THIS close to pirating a copy.  But I figured what's the point, I wont be able to transfer the save to the legit copy I've had pre-ordered for months anyway.

I have a SoulSilver version pre-ordered, but they'll have plenty of each so I can change if need be.

This is the ONLY generation of Pokemon I never got to play.  I played Emerald from the one after, Yellow from the one before (and I own Red and Blue which I'll get to after this) and I played Platinum.

So opinions folks, which is better and why?

Silver is better because of Lugia - and nostalgia, just like Blue is better than Red :P

Seriously though, they're both great games and basically the same.. I just always prefered Silver to Gold and I owned both of them.

Fair enough. Being almost completely unfamiliar with the second generation's Pokemon I will have to take the word of the people in this thread.

I figured I probably couldn't go wrong with either. I am just so damn excited.

Tomorrow CANT COME SOON ENOUGH!!!!!!

I prefer Heart Gold. Ho-Oh was way cooler!!! Oh and Red is way better than blue!!!

Incorrect.  Having Charizard on the cover is vastly superior to Blastoise

Neither one is better than the other.

Maybe make your decision based on version exclusive Pokemon? Although even that's not a big issues with D/P/Pt and global trading.
