Forums - Sony - Sony Responds To Nintendo 3DS Announcement

People over the age of 75 play DS, I'de say the average age is way over 20, just button it with the child demographic.

Why can't 8-9 year olds play with 3D? It's to difficult for them?
I can imagine dozens of game concepts that would work perfectly with that demographic.

Did I miss something or what!?

PEOPLE!

Let's stop derailing the thread.
Everyone and their grandma knows DS appeals to a wide demographic, probably the widest ever across all videogame related machines. And definitely to a much, much wider audience than, say, PSP, for example. If one or several individuals don't want to hear that, so be it. Too bad for them, but let's stop trying to convince them with endless arguments, because we all know it's no use talking to brick walls.

Let's all just move on.

But someone is WRONG on the IN-

...

Fine, fine....

I'm off to fantasize about layered investigative scenes and 3-D displays in Ace Attorney, I guess....

Didn't Sony get the note that Nintendo products aren't only bought by 8 and 9 year olds?

sigh, how many times do we have to go over this? Despite what many of you claim, The DS is targeted towards a "kiddie" audience and the Wii is as well. The people who buy games like Final Fantasy, MGS, Uncharted and Halo are in the severe minority when it comes to Nintendo consoles, which is the audience Sony and Microsoft are pushing for.

Stop with the BS.

i refuse to believe that graph, i have NEVER seen a 34 year old man or woman with a NDS.......whehter anyone likes it or not...nintendo wants to hit a demographic that has do with kids, theres nothing wrong with it, but its just what they are MAINlY trying to do

OH and not only that, but its  sample of 3000....really?...thats um idk .000234 percent of the DS pop

You have already been taken to task for this, but it seems you have no understanding of statistics.  For a sample size that large, error is about ± 2%.

just to be fair, i'll post the North American chart:

from:http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/090508/05.html

this is what i am talking about...different region, larger poll, and more specific survey

Different region - so?

Larger poll - actually, the percentage of americans surveyed is less here than % of Japan surveyed

More specific - it isn't more specific!

This graph is in reference to Japan. Unless I'm mistaken, note the (Tokyo, Osaka).

either way, it doesnt cover the DS population...its result has nearly no meaning to what the one who is posted it is trying to show

The basic idea he's trying to give is the appeal the Nintendo DS has to adults.

what i am saying is that this graph does not show it considering the sample number...now if it was 20% or hell even 10%, i would agree to some sense, but the sample is less than one percent....yeah, could have asked anyone in that "interview survey"

No offense to you, but I'm beginning to think either:

1. You lack knowledge on how statistics work.

or

2. You're grasping at straws.

im sorry but WHY again do you think i lack knowledge in statics?...i would really love to know your reasoning, seriously....i really wanna know why im wrong in this

http://www.sysurvey.com/tips/sampling.htm

"For the majority of surveys, the sample size is between 200 and 2000. A sample below 200 is useful only if you have a very low budget, and little or no information on what proportion of the population engages in the activity of most interest to you — or if the entire population is not much larger than that. A sample size over 2000 is probably a waste of time and money, unless there are subgroups of the population, which must be studied in detail."

"Consider this question: if a survey in a town with 10,000 people needs a sample of 400 for a given level of accuracy, what sample size would you need for the same level of accuracy in the whole country, with a population of 10,000,000? (That's 1000 times the population of the town.)

Did you guess 400,000? Many people do. The correct answer is 400.4 - you might as well call it 400."

Thank you, and goodnight.

i would if people stopped making me look retarted with thier posts..i mean cmon "grasping at straws" ...i really hate it when someone calls someone else an idiot when that idiot is just trying to back up thier reasoning..

Isn't funny how a thread could move so quickly based on 2 graphs of something that almost everybody know?

Now the Euro one...
