How can you tell it is "sold out"? When I go on the page it says "available for pre-order".

As an update to this offer, I just read the following on the Nintendo Life message boards

"Ok an update. I contacted Amazon via their 'Call Me Service'. It's some bizarre thing where you enter your number, then they IMMEDIATELY call you back (I mean, as SOON as you press the button), it's pretty efficient actually. Anyway, the assistant I spoke to took my order number, and she could see immediately that the item had changed from when I originally placed the order. She spoke to someone at the warehouse to check if they could 'keep their promise' and they said everything was still OK for my order, but they had changed the picture and taken the price away because the item was now "out of stock", so it will only be available at this time to people who have already pre-ordered it.

Saying it's 'out of stock' is very unlikely to be true, I mean what kind of shop at Amazon's level stock an item that little? I suspect somebody at Amazon has noticed the massively low price, which most likely was a mistake, and taken it off the website to prevent any more people getting the deal. She completely assured me my order was safe however (can I completely believe this? is this too good to be true?) and finally, and here's the most unbelievable bit, she said it would dispatch to me on the 1st of April: "That's the date we promised to send it to you, and it's a promise we will keep". I doubt this will happen, but imagine if it did?"

I find it hard to believe Amazon would ship this item nearly a whole month before its official release date, even if that's what the page on their website said when I made my pre-order with them. Hopefully they'll at least hold to the outrageously low price they were selling it at!

errr what is the official release date?

I had my order shipped april 1st and said to arrive on the 8th (easter weekend for the delay).

The official release date for Europe is the 23rd April.

And my order says the same thing as yours.

As expected they'll change the release the date.

oh well should have ordered both this and the controler version.... (sold out too but I guess not cancelled as they directed me to that version in the email)

then again this whole cancelled order deal made me a bit bitter and I guess i'm not even going to get the game until it hits 10£

I think there was supposed to be (according to the press conference) a bundle that contains the classic controller and Wii speak but without the figurine and the chest - no idea why it is not offered anywhere. I thought this was the bundle in question (until they changed the picture to the chest), maybe it will yet return. Nintendo doesn't seem to be handling this too well, the US bundle (just classic controller) has already been forever on Amazon, in the EU you are less than a month away and no clear idea what is available and what not...

[Edit]I just looked in Amazon DE, there they clearly have 3 options, the standalone game, the controller bundle, and the chest. Maybe the bundle with the Wii Speak was always supposed to be the limited edition bundle with the treasure chest. The prices in Amazon DE are in line with what is expected, I think it was Amazon UK that was all confused.

Also, looks like despite the price, the limited edition is the most popular in Amazon DE - standalone is no. 888 in sales, controller bundle is 176, limited edition is no. 48...[/Edit]
