VIII was the best imo. Just loved the hell out of it. :D But there is no need to re-buy it on PSN for me. Since I have a mint copy of it sitting on my shelf, and also a sealed mint copy as an extra. ^^

Main Number Final Fantasy Games

Final Fantasy 4/5

The Original Final Fantasy back when I was a kid I played a abit of it at my friends on his NES I had a SEGA Mater System back then playing alot of Phantasy Star and other Sega JRPGs back then. I have now own the Japanese Version on PlayStation and I have played the game in its entirety.

Final Fantasy II 4/5

I own the Japanese Version for PlayStation it is a grate game better story then the first and it it has fun battle system.

Final Fantasy III 4/5

Fun story and the Job system are awesome.

Final Fantasy IV 4/5

Awesome Story and Awesome combat system and music.

Final Fantasy V 4.5/5

Awesome Story and Awesome Combat and Job System also Gilgamesh was a awesome character and FFV has Awesome music.

Final Fantasy VI 5/5

FFVI is Steampunk Awesomeness and 2D FF at its best and Awesome music I have the Japanese PlayStation Version.

Final Fantasy VII 5/5

Cyberpunk awesomeness, awesome Story and Awesome cast of Characters and a very fun battle system and awesome music and awesome cutscenes I have both the English Version and the Japanese International Version. The only thing about FFVII that could have been done better is graphics because Squaresoft was making FFVII in 3D for the first time they did  not yet know how to get the most out of the 3D capabilities of the PlayStation platform.

Final Fantasy VIII 5/5

A Awesome blend of Cyberpunk and the natural world, Awesome Story and Awesome cast of Characters and Cool Battle System and awesome music and awesome cutscenes and FFVIII had some of the best Graphics on the PlayStation I have the English Version and the Japanese Version.

Final Fantasy IX 4.5/5

Final Fantasy X 5/5

FFX was the First FF I owned and completed and it is in my opinion the best game ever made the world has some Cyberpunk and steampunk elements but the world spira is a more natural world then the previous 3 games because of the controlling powers being officially against the use technology it had a awesome Story and awesome Cast of Characters and the best turn based battle system ever made and thanks to the power of the PlayStation 2 the awesome cutscenes still look amazing beautiful even when compared to alot of HD games of this generation of Consoles the ingame Graphics are also despite being released in 2001 some of the best on the PS2 and FFX also had some epic music.

Final Fantasy XII 4.5/5

Final Fantasy XIII 5/5

Main series related and others

Final Fantasy X-2 5/5

FFX-2 is a awesome sequel to FFX with a Bishōjo Senshi JPOP/JROCK theme.
FFX-2 has a cool story and a awesome cast of characters with some cool ones returning from FFX and some new ones like the sexy warrior Pain (Paine) the battle system/Job System is awesome and up until FFXIII was the best ATB battle system in a FF Game the Job system with the using the Garment Grid with Dresspheres with cool transformation scenes between each Dresspheres that are like that scene in Bishōjo Senshi Anime and FFX-2 is a perfect ending to the personal love story between Yuna and Tida (Tidus).

Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core 5/5

Final Fantasy Tactics 5/5

Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus 4/5

Final Fantasy XI 4/5

Japanese Pop Culture Otaku

Around the Network

FF I 4/5 (remember people it was for the NES and had as much of a plot as Zelda at the time)

FF II 4.5/5 (buffed version of I)

FF III DS version 4/5 (Was a fun game with a mildly childish storyline)

FF IV 4.75/5 (I really enjoyed this game)

FF V ?/? Unplayed

FF VI 3/5 (Serriously a clown as the archvillian, no thanks)

FF VII 5/5 (By far the best in the series, if you dont think so you need a Lobotomy)

FF VIII 4.85/5 (I needed towns on disc 4)

FF IX 4.5/5 (Bahamut would have layed waste to Kuja)

FF X 5/5 (as with VII it builds a connection with the characters, xcellent game)

FF X-2 3/5 (It wasnt my cup of tea but it was fun)

FF XI 4.5/5 (Played it for 4 years, was very fun and sometimes very disheartening. Really great story)

FF XII 4.9/5 (Very fun and creative very good story)

FF XIII 5/5 so far only about 7 hours into it.

FF I to FF VI we made for the younger more innocent audience and they only had so much data they could apply to each of those titles.

It wasnt until FF VII that the average gamer had "Final Fantasy" etched into their vocabulary. From then on a much wider demograph was hooked and every RPG since is compared with it. All in all I recommend that everyone play games for themselves, do not take critic or blogger's words to heart. It is your experence that counts.

FFVII = 5/5

FFVIII = 5/5

FFX = 5/5

FFX-2 = 4.5/5

FFXII = 5/5

FFXIII (I'm only 33 hrs in) = 4.5/5

Who am I kidding, i can't do this... 5/5 for the FF franchise!!!

I'm gonna be the oddball out and use a broader decimal system, as a 1 to 5 scale is too limitative.

Final Fantasy - 2.5 (It was a good game, but at that time, Dragon Quest was much better)

Final Fantasy II - 3.2 (I loved the implementation of the "Learn by doing" system)

Final Fantasy III - 2.0 (As generic as a JRPG can get, probably the only good thing that came out of it was the implementation of a broader job system)

Final Fantasy IV - 4.8 (Major surprise for me when I played it, since the first FF's where pretty much bland. It did almost everything right and this is when FF started to stand out for itself, IMO)

Final Fantasy V - 4.2 (A bit of a letdown in comparison to IV, since it had a somewhat generic story, with few surprises and a obvious plot. It was saved with the best Job system ever implemented on a FF game though. Plus it still houses the toughest battle I've ever had on a FF game, Omega Weapon on The Void)

Final Fantasy VI - 5.0 (What can I say that hasn't been said already? Being one of the few video games in which the Villain actually does something right, it gets major props for that alone xD. Plus it has the Opera Scene, one of the best cutscenes ever made, heck, one of the best moments on any entertainement medium)

Final Fantasy VII - 4.5 (The most expansive universe ever created on a FF game, but what really distinguished it was the Materia system. Until FFXIII, it was my favourite battle system in any FF game)

Final Fantasy VIII - 3.9 (An okay story with a few memorable moments and the best OST in the series. The battle system was a big letdown to me, which made for quite a boring experience, between story clips, saved only by the best minigame ever created, Triple Triad. Seriously, I have more TT time than proper game time :P)

Final Fantasy IX - 4.0 (A good story which was put to light with some proper use of really great characters which meld into a great mix. Back to the roots with it's battle system, which was a good trip down memory lane)

Final Fantasy X - 3.5 (I know i'm going to get so flamed by this, but what really shone down for me was the utter predictable story, with the only actual good part being the Plot twist at Zanarkand. Battle system could have been much better, had the fights been a bit harder to fit the paused flow of the battles. It gets some points for being the FF with most Post-game things to do)

Final Fantasy XII - 4.9 (It almost came close to the perfection of FFVI, mainly due to it's story alone. It had an awesome battle system which required a good amount of strategy if you had the guts to disregard the Gambit system completely, great post-game experience which can rival the length of the entire game itself. Even the forgetable characters, like Vaan and Penelo, were counterbalanced by some of the best characters ever in a FF game, Balthier and Basch)

Final Fantasy XIII - 4.1 (Very character-driven story, which is somewhat it's downfall, since it failed to capitalize on the potential of Cocoon/Pulse history, which could have made for a much more expansive universe. Best battle system in any Final Fantasy game, especially when you get to later chapters or do the post-game contents, as it offers no rooms for mistakes)

Final Fantasy Dissida - 5.0 (Yes, the experience I've had with Dissidia was the very best portable game experience so far, for me. It demanded skill, concentration and dedication from you, especially on the later boards and final Duel Collosseums)

Final Fantasy X-2 - 3.8 (Pretty much the same experience that I had with FFX, except for the battle system being a bit better balanced. Dressphere incorporation was good, but what really shone for me was the Via Infinito)

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - 2.1 (Generic RPG experience with the good point being the incorporation of Real Time Action events with the weapons on the world screen, for puzzles and whatnot)

Final Fantasy Tactics - 4.8 (Probably one of the best Turn Based Strategy RPG's i've ever played, with a pretty solid story and an Insanely hard final boss battle, as it should always be)

If I had to do an average of my FF experience, then it is 3.7
