Do you have any idea how much advertising costs?

Games like Modern Warfare 2 and God Of War III have ad. campaigns reaching into the millions of dollars, and even passing the production costs of the games themselves.

Well those games had crazy advertising budgets. MW2 inparticular is rumored to have spent $200 million. Not sure what GOW3 spent. But the original L4D had an advertising budget of $10 million and L4D2 had $20 million.

Anyhow, the only games that need advertising on the Wii are games that appeal to kids (i.e. just dance, rayman, guitar hero, 1st party games, etc.). When it comes to T and M rated titles, advertising doesn't seem to make a significant improvement in sales.

I don't know what you're basing this conclusion on so far, the few games that had advertising were either very niche or had very little tv advertising in obscure hours (or both).

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Wii games tend to have longer legs than the HD games. Maybe they'll advertise after release?

No More Heroes 1,No More Heroes 2, Red Steel 1 and Red Steel 2. Those games could have had better LTD sales if there developers showed them some DAMN SUPPORT!

Why Ubisoft? WHY?

Why publish or develop a game knowing that you're not going to give it support by making tv ads or something?

Ok, Red Steel 1 did sell 1 million copies LTD and I'm proud of those sales but come on!

WHAT ABOUT NO MORE HEROES 2?

There was so much hype going into that game and what happens? No Ads, Nothing!

With good advertisements shown on TV almost every other day, No more Heroes could of sold 150k first week worldwide. But no because Ubisoft doesn't care what does it sell? 40k first week! 40k? WTF?

Red Steel 2 is going to be released this tuesday and I've only seen one advertisement. Ubisoft better promote this game or else the LTD sales of this game will be lower than the first game.

As far as No More Heroes. Be glad Ubisoft is even willing to touch it. If they didn't who would?

Ubisoft probably won't publish the HD release. So there's no guarantee it'll come to the NA or Others at all.

Red Steel on the otherhand is their IP. As the release comes closer they're likely to put some ads out. Its a major release for the Wii. Gamestop is constantly running videos for it, I assume Ubisoft paid for that.

You do realize the release is 2 days away?

Just saw a Red Steel 2 commercial. You happy now?

I guess that does fit the "some ads" definition, so I am happier than if there were none at all, but I would be much happier if it were a significant ad campaign where lots of people saw the ads.

Dude I just saw that myself, it was awesome.

Red Steel 2's failure is not going to be because of a lack of advertising. The more they advertised it, the more people would realise that it doesn't have multiplayer

No More Heroes is too weird. Ads wouldn't have sold enough to justify the cost.

Red Steel 2 is getting a decent push, and more importantly the developers got all the support they needed from Ubisoft to make a really great game.

Ubisoft has had a few misadventures (the second Shaun White game comes to mind), but they've made and localized quite a few good Wii games. No complaints from me.

No one I know has even heard of NMH.
These are the same people who bought Shadows of the Colossus based on word of mouth, Call of Duty based on astronomical advertising, and watch videos of Halo 3/Reach trailers CONSTANTLY.
