I totally agree, though you only get 2 armies with the original game, and they are airborne infantry, not airborn

What mods and map packs would you recommend? I got back into the game a little bit recently (though my attention has since gone to Napoleon Total War and Final Fantasy XIII), and I am just working my way through the campaign, but I will need more things to occupy me when I come to skirmish mode

Did you really get Napoleon? The fixes are minimal, and so it's as broken as Empire was. We should really play a game of skirmish togheter .

It is properly fixed, and I am a real total war junkie, but only the campaign, I haven't done any skirmishes beyond the tutorial

I should probably pick this game up sometime maybe on a steam sale.

Starcraft = overrated.

The micro-management in CoH is way better integrated.

lol that was kinda my point normally people refer to starcraft as the best RTS ever and with good reason it is an excellent game but a lot of RPGs have bettered it in specific areas but it is still one of the best mainly thanks to it's balance and player base.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Aww...I thought you were talking about World in Conflict for a minute. :(

But that's okay because CoH is pretty awesome as well.

While I would agree that Company of Heroes is probably the best RTS I have played from a technical standpoint, I still have to say the best RTS I have played from a gameplay and 'fun' standpoint is Age of Empires III. There's just so much variety, so many classes and the improvements such as the card system and the unique units made the game better unlike most other RTS games.

But I completely agree that Company of Heroes is most likely the most balanced and best RTS I have played. I like both equally.  And unlike Age of Empires III, the Company of Heroes community is still around and people still play the game.  Hopefully it won't suffer the same 'sequel' effect of AOEIII.

Medieval 2 has a great number of units, but because of that the micro-management is minimum, and that's just the most important thing in RTS's for me.. With Micro-Management comes with the real Strategies / Tactics. In a RTS like Medieval 2, u just need a balanced army and u will win.

Age of Empires 3? Are u kidding me? AoE2 > AoE3 by miles.. Plus, the whole point bout AoE is that u have to spam units, and then u'll win..

....Yeah.  So spamming units is superior to using tactics and multiple options to win like in AOE3?

And this is coming from someone who is praising Company of Heroes...?

Editing that, meant the whole AoE series..
