Forums - Nintendo - Reggie on lack of Wii MotionPlus games

Reggie is an awesome executive. I wish all executives in gaming were like him because hes an honest and good hearted bloke.

I prefer to be fatalistic on this topic. The motion + games may or may not come, I will await them but I will not anticipate them in order to prevent from being disapointed or forgetting about the awesome games coming out right now which don't need it to create compelling and incredible experiences.

Developers have had 4 years to come up with good ideas for motion controlled games. I'm not holding my breath. They waited for Nintendo to make a sports minigame collection, and then they all followed suit. Then they waited for Nintendo to make an exercise game, and then they all followed suit. I guess the idea is that they're waiting for Nintendo to make Zelda Wii with Motion+ and go "oh that's how you do it!" and suddenly make some really amazing games.

But already, with a whole year of Motion+ on the market they're jumping ship to make games for the Move instead. That's where all the stellar bowling, dancing, painting, and minigames are going to be from now on. Developers prefer to make their motion games in HD so they cost more.

But I bet some of the Move games will eventually get ported to Wii Motion+, since it has a much larger userbase (somewhere around 14 or 15 million to zero as of today).

I don't think it would be too inaccurate to nearly double those numbers (~25m)

With Wii Sports Resort, obviously many people needed to get an extra one. A couple sports games add an extra million or two to the count, and Red Steel 2 is going to add to it.

I do think there could be more M+ games but people have to remember that it's not necessarily going to add much to all games, particularly games like Mario Kart where controller movement in 3 dimensions isn't really used and in any games with heavy IR use e.g Metroid.

Did No More Heroes 2 suffer for lack of M+ support?

How could New Super Mario Brothers Wii or Mario Galaxy 2 use Wii Motion +?

That's like complaining that your Airplace CEO simulator doesn't support rumble.

There should be more games... but to complaing that NSMB Wii doesn't support it really makes me laugh.

Exactly, it's almost impossible to hold the controller sideways with the WM+ plugged in.

I imagine Mario Golf and Tennis are in the works, and that they will use it. Hopefully, the same is true of PilotWiings and Wave Race Wii (which could also incorporate Balance Board support). Beyond that, who knows - possibly new IP (like FlingSmash) or reimagining existing ones.

They were talking about 3d parties. I suspect that 1st party games will be increasing the WM+ in the next years but Nintendo knows that 3d parties are a bunch of artistic crybabies nerds that will be making a huge tantrum and call Nintendo the next Hitler for forcing them to use the WM+ so better give them support and let them the little brats chose whatever makes their boats float.

I say wait for E3. I suspect (translation: hope) Nintendo will have some near release awesome software that only they could come up with. I've learned to be patient when it comes to Nintendo.

His body was ready.

In the event of a wild Reggie attack, you should play dead.  If your lucky, he will kick your ass.  If you're not lucky, he will kick your ass, take your name, and make a game.

The Tim is strong in this thread...
