I am not exaggerating at all when I tell you this: I once stood by while an EB Games employee told a woman that she needed to buy a cooler for her son's PS2 or it would BURN DOWN HER HOUSE.
I'm not kidding.
Some (but not all) of the people who work in retail know less about the product they're selling than the customer. I know. I sold shoes before and people would ask advice about the most random of things. Our main concern (which may be EB's main concern) was selling the product, selling add ons (socks, shoe laces, insoles, and sneaker cleaner). I'm sure they focus on selling used games, subscriptions/Edge Cards, accessories, and warranties.
