I was about the only one saying it will sell more than 10m on 360 and around 20m combined.

Halo Reach is the next big Halo game. Don't pretend it isn't. Halo 3 ODST (barely a full new game) sold around 5m and will hit 6m eventually, so a full fledged Halo game with new campaign, new multiplayer, better graphics, on a 3 times bigger userbase won't have much trouble going past 10m at all.

And I never said it will have a bigger launch than MW2 and it doesn't need to.

Can you explain the "won't have much touble going past 10m at all" part of your post ?

Because after doing a quick search on VGC I've noticed that Halo 3 hasn't hit 11mil yet and that games been out for... *busts out a calendar*... *Busts out a calculator*...

.... A LONG FUCKING TIME.

It will probably be frontloaded - very strong IMHO. It will have over two months to hit 10m and there will come Christmas sales boost.

My point is.

An argument saying "There are more systems out now, so Example 2 is going to sell more than example 1" is pointless.

You can never predict something like that.

For Example

Gears of War 1 Sales 6.03m

Gears of War 2 Sales 5.62m

Gears 2 came out 2.5 years after Gears 1.

But then people come back with the argument "Yea well example 1 has been out longer than example 2" which again, is pointless.

All I'm saying it just because example 1 sold 5 million doesn't mean example 2 will sell 8 millions or example 3 will sell 12 million JUST BECAUSE the install base is bigger.

Not everyone that buys an Xbox is a Halo fan, maybe you guys should think about that while I get myself a drink.

Here on VGC obviously. But if you want to count the whole internet, then I was probably a part of around 5%-10% who said it will sell more than 10m.

 

As far as Halo Reach goes, I already explained why.

You're new on this site, so learn to make good predictions first. Just saying "it's not called Halo 4" isn't enough. *cough* GTA Vice City and San Andreas *cough*

The 360 userbase when Halo 3 was released was 11m.

When Halo Reach comes out the userbase will be around 42m.

HD games are known for massive launch sales and Halo games for their good legs (same for CoD games). Halo 3 did 3.8m first week on a 11m userbase. Halo Reach will get at least the same sales (my guess is rather 4.5m) first week and then 10m+ LTD sales are just a matter of time.

Halo 3 is out since September 2007, so only 2 1/2 years. At the end of the gen it will probably have 12.5m sales (depending on the lenght of this gen of course).

 

I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say with the last sentence.

There aren't any GameStops here or barely any shop that is dedicated to games where I live, but yes there are tousands of new Halo 3 copies on the shelves across the globe.

Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 released around the same time just before Christmas 2007. Call of Duty 4 is one of the best selling games on the 360 but it doesnt come close to Halo 3.

Two years later its sequel Modern Warfare 2 has been released and although it will probably over take Halo 3 pretty soon, its still arguable that the Xbox 360 has more Halo fans than Call of Duty fans, despite the rather obvious fact that not everyone who has a 360 is a Halo fan. Halo 3 has sold around 10.8 million copies, how many of those have been resold? 

Given that when Halo Reach launches the 2nd hand players wont have the option of getting a used copy it will boost Halo Reachs sales, it may not launch aswell a Modern Warfare 2 but thats yet to be seen and if a possibility. IMO given that Halo 3 outsold Cod 4 pretty easily I think Halo Reach will outsell MW2?

You forgot the reason why Gears 2 didn't sell as good as Gears 1. The online mode wasn't as good as the first one and some were dissapointed and didn't recommend it to their friends.

But besides that it's obvious that Gears 2 will reach 6m eventually (by Jan 11 or so), so I don't see a declining trend anywhere and nobody said Reach will crush Halo 3's sales, just do a little bit more. Like 10% more and even if it does 10% less it's still over 10m at the end of this gen.
