You forgot the reason why Gears 2 didn't sell as good as Gears 1. The online mode wasn't as good as the first one and some were dissapointed and didn't recommend it to their friends.
But besides that it's obvious that Gears 2 will reach 6m eventually (by Jan 11 or so), so I don't see a declining trend anywhere and nobody said Reach will crush Halo 3's sales, just do a little bit more. Like 10% more and even if it does 10% less it's still over 10m at the end of this gen.
