Forums - Microsoft - Rumor Microsoft To Announce $149 Slim At E3

Sony struggling? Na, they consistantly outsell MS by $50,000 units a week. But MS is doing the right thing. Their are scared, and bundling everything, FFXIII, Halo3, etc. They are doing everything in their power to keep Sony from widening the 50,000 weekly greater sales. Sony on the other hand is doing nothing, no bundles, no Blockbuster bundles, no extra controlers, ..... just a PS3.

Compared to last generation they are, compared to Nintendo they are, hell you maybe could even say compared to Microsoft they are too at least in a financial sense anyway. Since when has Sony not struggled relative to something this generation? No point even bringing it up IMO.

Tease.

read about 4 posts back lol

And I still don't see where anyone said Sony was struggling other than that random Sony fan who also seems to have stated that without reason.

Another 360 thread gone to the PS3 dogs...

You are going to have to link to the actual post, not a page. My pages are set to 25 per page so that link is useless.  Although I'm sure its probably pointing to exactly what I was talking about.  The Sony fan that brought "Sony is struggling" out of nowhere to derail a 360 thread.

If true, I think this pretty much puts Sony in last for the rest of this gen.

No it doesn't. The 360 arcade is already $100 cheaper and is getting its ass kicked weekly. What makes you think an extra $50 cheaper will make the difference?

You aren't considering the many who want the console with a hard drive. A $50 price cut will be a definite deal breaker. Also, the update that allows USB stick support will make the Arcade models more desireable.

Okay as for the USB thing, I have no idea what that means and I'd consider myself fairly informed about gaming related things; so I doubt the average gamer (casual gamer or whatever) will know either so that won't make a difference.

And yeah I'm not saying a $50 drop won't help but I don't think it's gonna skyrocket 360 above PS3. $200 (current price) is very affordable already so I don't think too many people who want an Xbox 360 were waiting for it to drop lower than $200. Its not like the PS3 which went from an expensive $400 to a fairly affordable $300 when they did the slim.

So yeah it'll help and the 360 will probably go back to dominating in North America (its pretty close right now) but it won't stop the PS3 IMO.

The next update is going to allow the use of USB memory sticks up to 16GB. That means you can save game data, DLC, demos, XBLA games, Games on Demand, and even install 360 games onto a standard USB stick. Therefore the Xbox 360 hard drives are no longer essential for people that want to download. This means Arcade won't be gimped anymore.

Not everyone wants the $199 model. Every 360 owner I know has a 360 with the hard drive. So a $50 price cut on both models will be a definite edge over the PS3 and Wii.

They don't need to stop the PS3. Sony is already stuggling to keep the PS3 alive. The 360 is doing great and another price cut should widen the gap.

wow, u r a looser. Man u should learn to read. It's from a MS fan lol

on a side not, I love the idea of cheaper systems, and stealing competitors Exclusives, and a true figth to till the end.

^Oh I see so 4 now equals 7? See if you would have just stated that 4 = 7 I could have found that post without all this trouble. Also, you do fail to notice that the PS3 was brought into this far before that...

Except for the fact that the USB device will only be able to use 16 gigs for 360 storage. Good for the Arcade model as they don't have to pack in a Memory card, however the slim would still have to have a HD slot, as they need a sku with a HD.

You can use 2x slots for 16gigs each which is 32gigs. Thats plenty of room to DLC and what not.

My biggest issue with the slim is the hard drive. What will MS do for people with hard drives from the older models? Hopefully a transfer cable of some sort at the worst. I'll buy one at $150.

Some people like to install games to their HDD so they don't get damaged.

That would be a great deal with the fact they will recognise every USB stick

At the moment it sounds like the most storage space you could possibly 'upgrade' to on the Arcade revision is 32GB in the form of 2 >16GB usb drives. Enough for most I guess, but still poor that you can't purchase a proper HDD at a later date. Hopefully they'll change that.

What if Sony surprises us and comes out with an even newer slim for $200-250. I dont kknow if you guys noticed but sony has been quiet lately about E3. I have a feeling they have something huge to show.

I wouldn't say a slimmer PS3, I could see them be able to get cheaper parts in the Slim.

If Microsoft does this, do people think Sony will just let their console sit at $299?  Yes of course they took a beating with the PS3 Fat, they refused to drop the price, but once they did their sales increased Ten-Fold.  Sony won't let their console take a beating again, they will definitely lower the price accordingly, with Move Skus and such.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.
