I'd just like to cast everyones memory back a few months when the new PSP model was released in Japan, and the kind of numbers that pulled.

Obviously, this won't be at that kind of scale, but the numbers could very well keep up.

Entirely possible. I actually expect the PS3's japanese total to AT LEAST match its total from last week.

 What are you talking about it sold 63,037 consoles last week in Japan.

Lol at you too. It sold 63k so you are wrong and DW6 and 40GB were released on sunday. 1 day vs a whole week we will see what happens. I am not saying it will happen, but it will be fun if it happend because you seem pretty sure.

personlly, i don't think sony will get the 53k more units then xbox in japan it would need to outsell this week. close for sure but i don't see it happening. either way it's really a wash, ps3 360 basically sold 1:1 +/- 2%

I doubt it. The Japanese got one day of a price cut last week (the Japanese are notorious first-day shoppers) and saw a +270% spike in hardware because of it. Even with that spike, it barely outsold the 360 by the amount it needs this week to gain second place in overall sales.

It's possible but I wouldn't bet on it.
