It's funny about the gameplay, I was reading a review of it on Gameradar and one of the pros was strangling someone feels oddly real. And I laughed, only because I knew exactly what they were talking about. When you do it your pressing the B, and Z buttons while shaking the controls together, and I find that it kind of sucks you into the moment I was gripping really tight and holding my breath till I finished. and when done my face went flush and I was breathing heavy to compensate for holding my breath. I'm not endorsing the game for this reason, I'm simply pointing how much the Wii gameplay puts you in the moment, you'd never experience the game on that level with just pressing buttons. There was a great article too about the phsycological effects of acting out gameplay, and how much more engrossing it can be to the gamers.

stof said: It's an interesting question, does the new experience offered by the Wii give it an advantage in the multiplat game department? I think it does. But can it change a multi plat enough that it might be considered a different game? would anyone ever buy two versions of the same game? And can somebody link me to that youtube game?
Vienna put the link but yeah after I saw that on Youtube, I was like a zombie and Godfather was living flesh then I bought it got home turned on Smash Bros......................well you know the rest anyway it's just sitting at my house in it's nice neat wrapping taunting me everyday I come home, laughing at me, screaming out at night "YOU CAN'T PLAY ME"!

That is a pretty awsome video. Combat looks like a lot of fun. Although did anyone else notice that it took him a few tries to get the execution move to work?

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I see that becoming a problem for the Wii, some people may start to say is the Wii's motion controlls to real? *Sony rushes to remove them from the Sixaxs*

I think that is just with the video, I haven't heard any problems from people who have the game!

I don't think in this case it would be about motivating people to buy two versions, since sales we're originally poor. Recapturing the 150,000 people that bought it on the 360 wouldn't be a big score. It really comes down to getting people into it that never paid attention to it originally, and people who don't own the other systems it was released on. I think a big part of the poor sales was that drab setting. It's kind of lackluster looking, although that's kind of what New York looked like back then. I like it, I think it puts in that world. But I can understand the lack of appeal compared to the much more vibrant and colorful worlds of GTA and even Scarface. But the emphasis placed so heavily on the gameplay this time around may set it far enough apart. It may night, but being the first sandbox Wii game I figured it warrented discussion as it's sales may be pointed to by many third parties in the future when determining to bring mature/sandbox games to the Wii. Although it's almost a win/draw for Nintendo, it either sales well and they motivate others to make sand-box games with fun controls, or it sells poorly and everyone rights it off with the rest of the poor selling Godfather titles. Personally I'm betting it will sell well, or at least better then the X360 version.

fooflexible - I agree with this game. But I was thinking of ones down the line. Lets say future random sandbox game (we'll call it game X) releases on all three platforms. The 360/PS3 versions are graphical powerhouses that really push the envelope, and the Wii version controls in such a fun and intuitive manner that it's a just plain great experience. If the game was a big enough release, would some people consider the games different enough to warrant two purchases of the same title? I think that this gen will see a fair share of multiplat games become multiplat/console experience specific. I'm just wondering if that effect could be enough to push some people to buy two versions.

I've played for 10 hours, and the controls are great. I'll break it down: Easy: grabing, punching, draging a guy, and throwing the guy, hitting with the bat(really really fun, you know how many times I'm running to the next mission and I pass a mobster from another mob and they say, "your not welcome around here!" and I just take out my bat and beat him. It's seriously too addictive, I've used the bat in this game more then I've used my bat in 2k7 mlb) Tricky: choking(it usually goes down, it's just a little tricky), Neck snapping don't always work right, but it's fine for the most part, It may even be me getting it wrong. Setting bombs is also easy and I'm a few skill points away from getting the pistol whip move.(skill points are like cool little rpg points where you can get extra abillities) Driving is easy, and the shooting is perfect, it has lock on where the motion controls contribute slightly when aiming at the part of the body you want to shoot, then there is free aim mode too. What's also awesome about this game, is you can ignore the story alltogether and wage war with all of Manhatten, NJ, and Brooklyn if you want. You can hire a bunch of guys to come with you and just go to another mobs compond and take on an army. Or just knock off one of their posts, or rackets. And with the extortions, cameraman, shakedown, hits, favors, crime fighitng, bank robbing you can do, there is all kind of great scenarios for all the motion controls. For example a hit that has to look like an accident gives you a great chance to do the grab and throw. You take the guy on the roof drag him to the edge and throw him. Using the bat to smash up a store is also great.

I have no idea Stof, but I was thinking the same thing about Spider-man 3 because the Wii is suppose to have a unqiue verison of that game and it's a sandbox game as well.
