Forums - Sony - Why don't the gods give Kratos amnesia?

God if I have to play one more action game where the main character loses his memory and has to slowly work back to his former level of power by piecing together events from his past I'm going to lose it.

Anything but amnesia.

They can't. Athena said so herself.

Considering what is coming, they might want to reconsider this.  Again, get Kratos wasted on Coronas and other things.

Side note: PLEASE don't take this thread too serious.  If you are a fan of God of War, I was just asking you to think a sec that MAYBE the gods would of been better off having Kratos forget.

It's god of war... there is going to be plotholes.

Heck, I still haven't figured out why he didn't use his harp and time travel powers to completly change his and his familys destiny.  People say it's because his wife and daughter got to be in the Elysian fields... but they SHOULD go there anyway... if he goes back and changes his history to where he lives a less dickish un-Ares involved life... and then he could spend eternity with his kid and wife.

He's turned into a hideous monster who doesn't even think of salvation anymore, and his whole existence is summed up in his search for vengeance.

That's really all there is. if that qualifies as a plothole....then there's a plothole.

And I guess we just looked at the myths differently, because out of all the pantheons I know, the Greeks are easily the biggest jerk. Every single major character has origins traced back to the gods acting like jerks.

God of War games are full of plotholes. Just enjoy the gameplay.

So the point is both to save our world from creating more Kratos anger level people, and also it has been shown that causing amneisa does nothing to solve the problems?

Well, amnesia is a JRPG cliche.
Plus, they didn't want to copy Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic now did they?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

you know kratos is not actually part of the greek mythology and just the invention of a PS2 developper right? so here is your answer.... because the dev decided otherwise in his script...

Apparently Kratos is angry because he is haunted by the memories of what he did.  So, why didn't the gods make Kratos just forget?  You know, have Zeus zap him with an eletric bolt in the head and perform a lobotomy, or something like that.

Isn't there a god of Memories in the world of Kratos who could lose his file or something?  Considering what is coming down, maybe they should of thought of it.

Listen, I'm not being a jerk here:

The Greek gods are jack-asses. They didn't do that because they are jack-asses.

Well... in this game they're jerk asses... the represenatations of the Greek gods aren't exactly spot on here... they're more like the depictions of the gods on Hercules: The Legendary Journies.

The Greek gods had their "jerk" moments in real life... but not nearly as much.

Also the more obvious point is "He couldn't kill them then could he."  Which would ruin the game.

This pretty much haha.

I mentioned it on the other tread, it's just a plot hole, just like whole time traveling. It's annoying but we wouldn't have GOW3.

How is it a plot hole? The god's didn't want to erase his memory.

I'm sure now (the GOW 3 period) the gods would gladly try to remove his memories, but it's too late. Krato's isn't pissed about that anymore, he's pissed about how the God's jerk him around and only one things is going to settle him down, killing the gods.

pft, try the Sumerian/Babylonian gods.

They created the humans of their patron cities soley as slaves to fight wars and do great works in their names... and their reward for this?   A grim shadowy relm prison realm of complete darkness where people were clothed only in clothes.  Ate nothing but dirt and were forced to crawl to move anywhere...

Oh, and this afterlife wasn't even eternal... eventually your soul would fade away into nothingness.   This is for everybody.

The greek gods all have their moments of giving cruel fates to someone who cross them... though it is for people who cross them and not just innocent people, but also all have their moments of greatly rewarding people who do things the right way.  If properly characterized, the greek gods would of came through for Kratos in GoW1.

Well if properly characterized Kratos would of never went after Ares since there isn't anything Ares loves more then his soldiers... and he totally wouldn't of let the events that created the gamehappen in the first place.  Ares wasn't evil.
