This article is so false.

i agree, only idiots blame the 360 for FF XIII's problems, because only idiots can't look past the dubious design choices and see one of the best jrpg's in years...
Latest issue of Game Informer featured an interview with FF13's creators. According to them, the linearity of the stages, the simplified battles where you only control one person, and the lack of towns (which was also supposed to make the story more realistic) were all design choices that they felt needed to be made for the genre to advance.
I'll be playing it extensively, tonight. Enjoying it thus far. Good read in the OP, too.
Focusing on graphics over gameplay is a serious problem this generation, and that problem is exacerbated by so-called Final Fantasy fans demanding better visuals and then complaining when the game lacks a massive overworld. The way Square Enix made Final Fantasy XIII was simply wrong, and the game's biggest faults aren't even technical ones. It's not the Xbox 360's fault that XIII's plot is borderline incomprehensible, that the characters are boring at best and annoying at worst, or that the battle system is so complicated and convoluted that most of the control is wrested from the player so they can concentrate on making sure nobody's HP drops below 0. These are all design issues, not hardware restrictions.
So remember, when the next traditional Final Fantasy is shit, don't boo the PS3 or the Xbox 360. Boo your stupid fucking self. http://www.destructoid.com/only-idiots-blame-the-360-for-ff-xiii-s-linearity-166847.phtml |

Sometimes I really agree with this. In the last boss battle I only found myself doing auto battle because I had to switch between healing and attacking paradigms too fast to be able to even think about playing it manually.
Still love the game though, don't get me wrong, but he is 100% correct on this.

Jim Sterling is awesome.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

The notion that adding the requirement that a code base function more or less equivalently on multiple platforms involves no technical or design trade-offs is naive at best.
Haha, that was a funny read.

Because too many of them open their big mouth with fanboyism. Probably just brings it out of him.

At least Jim Sterling is honest too.

This is so true that i wonder if this journalist/opinionist is more ignorant or fanboyst.
Moreover he doesn't even consider what really those "idiots" are addressing: development delays and cut out contents. He is the real idiot (or the fanboyst).
If fanboys would do the impossible and STOP using games as ammo in their fanboy wars MAYBE we wouldn't get nonsense like the complaints. Well, I did say it is impossible for a reason.
I wonder if these same fanboys will now doom Final Fantasy as a franchise.
