Lets be honest, the Move is a Wii-mote knockoff (or a wii-mote inspired if you're in denial). So they are both in direct competition for the Wii's dominated demographic-the casuals.

Assuming the PSmove will be successful, Nintendo will most likely be the one to suffer. Because "motion control" has been Nintendo's key differentiation regarding competition & business strategy.

[natal not included in this discussion because very little information has been released about it]

Why would Nintendo be afraid, Move doesn't expand the market, or capture Nintendo's audience, in fact it does nothing that the Wii doesn't already do, for less money and with Nintendo games, basically Move adds no value to the market that isn't already there.

It does. Everything the camera can do, is something you can't do with the wii mote. In other words, thing's like head tracking, face recognition and voice recognition.

That doesn't expand the market, most people don't care about those things, or even understand them

I'm not talking about the market. Rather it's capabilities. Regardless. Sony was the one who brought consoles into the living room. You shouldn't underrestimate them, though I hardly think it'll be the next fad.

It does interest me though. I have a wii but didn't find the games to my liking, so if sony does this well it'll be awesome for someone like me who enjoys the concept but isn't too fond of nintendos offerings.

Check out my game about moles ^

The Move = Lame..

I think nintendo will loose market share, people like me, that have not bought a Wii , because I don't want PS2 graphics, and I have grown fond of Dolby Digital, will buy the PS move, Also people who love motion controls, and want a HD console will but a PS3, You will have the best of all worlds, Bluray, Wifi, PS3 , motion control, great games, HArd drive, free online play, Dolby Digital, its the whole package, if you are a gamer who would not want all that for 300 bucks

Being that there were 31 games which could be qualified as "Good" quality (higher than 75% on metacritic) and 78 games that could be qualified as "playable" quality (60% or higher on metacritic) in Q4 of 2009 for the Wii, I think it is fair to expect a similar performance from the Wii in Q4 2010. At the same time, I think it would be remarkable if the Playstation Move could get 6 games of "Good" quality and 12 games of "Playable" quality in Q4 of 2010 because it is a new device, it is an add-on, and it does not seem like a major priority for Sony. This makes me think that the Wii will remain the best option for someone looking for this kind of gameplay experience; and aside from PS3 owners who also want motion controls the Move won't find much of a userbase, which means that it can't be much of a threat to the Wii.

With that said, if Sony can build credibility, develop some quality brands, and gain significant experience from the Move it could aid them in countering Nintendo in the next generation.
