Forums - Sony - Playstation Move: or how else would we have made the controller?

I understand your main point: Just because Nintendo was first to the market doesn't mean that they were the only ones working on such technology.

But there's something that puts a giant hole in your argument: the software. After all those years working on motion technology, the best games Sony could come up with are imitations of Nintendo hits and a not yet well functioning SOCOM 4 demo.

This to me means that anything original that Sony had in the works was even worse than what we have seen. To Sony, copying Nintendo seemed like a better solution than anything they could come up with and that should make everyone question how far along Sony was with their technology and games for it in the first place.

HOW so:

the people that developed the hardware put the tool's out. it upto developer's to do that software, that does not mean that noone when designing software would not come up with the same idea.

so what kind of software come's to mind for motion controll's?

would bowling be a good idea.

pong?

boxing?

combine  the game pain with the TV show the HOLE?

it's like you don't have to ignore common sense here  the idea that hey would that be a very common application for the controller!

bow and arrow

racing wheel wit two remotes to simulate the wheel, kid's have been doing that ever since kid's have dreamed of winning that soap box durby with out the racer, jut the box no wheel's, pretend steering wheel.

it's old concept's with new flash.

I can't blame Sony for making copies of popular Wii games because people would wonder what's going on if such basic and obvious games like Bowling are missing. But Sony wants to sell Move, so they should have some stuff that makes people go: "Wow, that's cool and there's nothing like that on the Wii, at least not THAT well implemented."

With the current games all Move will do is keep PS3 owners on board who were thinking about a Wii purchase. There doesn't seem to be the intention to outdo the Wii and its games, it's merely an alternative for PS3 owners. A "Wii too", if you so will.

but that is what it all come's down too, the fact that it's not a "WiiToo"

it's what type's of thing's that can be done with the playstation move motion controll's: we have not seen everything from everyone yet.

we do not know what's all being worked on, thus

just looking at eyepet alone that there is already pretty good uses already. is that something out of the realm that the Wii controller has yet to show,?

no but once again we have not see everything  that the Playstation Move can do.

so talking about software being copyied is going to happen no matter what, that does not mean it's true.

yeah because if the wii wasn't so popular sonys version of a butt plug would still have come out..... i dont thinik so.

and eyepet was originally designed just for the PSEye they added the move stuff later as far as i know. so of course eyepet isnt a killer app they just added some stuff now to make it better with move.

During this weekend you have said several times that Sony had a hard time to convince third parties to support the Eyetoy on the PS2. So why didn't Sony show some games that looked like potential hits with the ability to sell Move? Either those games don't exist or Sony wants to cover their hand for an unknown reason, but in that case it would have been a better idea to not show Move at all during GDC and wait for E3.

Eyepet isn't a hit, at least not that I know of. It's definitely not a killer application, something crucial for any peripheral.

Your still talking about pre alpha version of games here, and none of the strong first party games were shown at GDC. They will however showcase that line up at E3, so wait till then until you pass judgment, it's just too soon. And the developers have already seen the Move in action way way before GDC, publishers like EA already mentioned that they saw it and it works magnificantly. So yeah wait until you see the final line up of games ;)

and did anyone see images of the game Slider? :S a guy on a moving chair/martial arts? I saw pics but not gameplay, looked like fun tho

It's a far cry from using a brightly colored ball captured by a camera to making a Nintendo style wiimote. That has a ball on top.

If you then add the fact that Sony just showed Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort copies, then it looks less and less like they are doing anything other than what Nintendo already did, 4 years earlier.

Verdict: It's a direct copy.

Prognosis: Without innovative games it will flop hard.

This is invisible text!

@killergran: you really should read up on what the Move does and HOW it does it. VERY different and more advanced :) but yes it does need more solid games

@RolStoppable: Agreed, and E3 will be the most ideal time to showcase a good solid line up for Move, since it's a few months before launch. so fingers crossed

again did ANYONE see the game SLIDER?

to not show move at @ll

when has sony been able to keep anything a suprise this generation?

on that Question is if your courting developer's esp. 3rd party and  3rd party publisher's would it be better to not show something , or show them something's you have already done with your Hardware.

I am not saying sony was just as aggressive in software as Nintendo, What I am saying that many In Sony the Higher UP's still doubted rather the 3rd party developer's would develop for it due to what happened last time when Sony did this with the EYE TOY.

even with the Wii showing strong sales , many HARDCORE game developer publisher's Like EA, and Capcom, THQ, Sega, Ubisoft has stated their somewhat displeasure with sale's, I think Sony was not wanting to get in the same trouble so they are taking a more conservitive view and not count 100% on any sign up's just like last time.

I am not sure what exactly you mean.

Sony released the EYETOY developer's saw it but was tha's kind of cool, but I have other project right now, but 20 companies signed up to do EYETOY development, but It went Nowhere.

Sony has Invested more into first party this generation right.?

Example:

DR. Mark's said other companies come to them, just like last time Companies,

"say you guy's still have that Playstation Wand Idea still floating around don't you?"

yea we have some IDEA'S.

Well that Nintendo Wii is a great machine and all but the motion controll's software that Nintendo put's out we have trouble competeing for sales anyway you could help us out.

Well here is what software we have that we made sofar mind you this is just early build stuff, but here is a kit you can play with.

meanwhile Sony work's on it's own software instead of just the 3rd party developer's and pubulisher's that signed up.

20 companies signed up last time for the EYETOY development . and it was less than lackluster.

This Time Sony's putting more of an effort into it's own motion controll's
